Cleaning and Disinfecting Your NEXUS SPIRIT Cushion
Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate processes. Cleaning must
precede disinfection.
To clean the DRY FLOATATION cushion insert, gently pull it out of the
recess in the foam base, taking care to gently pull the valve through
the foam. Deflate the cushion, close valve(s) and place in a large
sink. Gently scrub the air cells and the spaces between them with a
soft plastic bristle brush, sponge, or washcloth. ROHO suggests
using a liquid dishwashing or laundry detergent or other
general-purpose cleaning product. For institutional cleaning, a gener-
al housekeeping disinfectant cleaner may be used.
To clean the foam base, wipe gently with a cloth dampened with
water and / or a household cleaning disinfectant. Allow foam to dry
thoroughly. Do not immerse the foam in water. A fluid-resistant,
anti-microbial cover is included with the product to protect the foam.
To clean the cover. May be machine washed in cold water. No
bleach. Air dry.
To disinfect the DRY FLOATATION Cushion Insert, use a germicidal
product that meets infection control needs. ROHO suggests a disin-
fectant with tuberculocidal properties. Follow the manufacturer's dilu-
tion directions. For home disinfection, use solutions of

household bleach per quart of water (125 ml bleach to 1 liter of
water). Keep the clean cushion wet with bleach solution for 10 min-
utes. Rinse thoroughly, and dry.
To disinfect the foam base, wipe gently with a cloth dampened with a
household cleaning disinfectant. Allow foam to dry thoroughly. Do
not immerse the foam in water. A fluid-resistant, anti-microbial cover
is included with the product to protect the foam. Do not autoclave.
Do not sterilize the foam base or cover. For the DRY FLOATATION
Cushion Insert, ROHO does not recommend sterilization methods
using temperatures greater than 200
o
F/93
o
C. High temperatures
accelerate aging and may cause damage to the cushion. Air valves
should be opened before exposing the DRY FLOATATION Cushion
Insert to elevated temperatures.
DO NOT USE OIL-BASED LOTIONS OR LANOLIN ON YOUR CUSHION
AS THEY MAY COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE RUBBER.
