Troubleshooting Guide

Probable cause
Faulty Piston, Cylinder and Piston ring
Loose spark plug
Loose cylinder bolts
No fuel in fuel tank
Blocked fuel filter or tube
Blocked air vent in tank cap
Faulty carburetor
Over-rich fuel/air mixture
Clogged air cleaner
Faulty carburetor
Incorrect grade/type of fuel
Water in fuel
Faulty spark plug
Faulty ignition coil
Engine switch left in "O" (Stop) position
Clogged air cleaner
Recoil starter or cooling air path
clogged with dirt.
Carbon built-up in combusition
chamber
Poor ventilation around engine
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Remedy
K
Tighten properly.
Fill fuel tank.
Clean.
K
Rotate engine with spark plug
removed to discharge excess fuel.
Clean spark plug.
Clean.
K
Change gasoline.
Replace spark plug.
Replace spark plug.
K
Turn engine switch to "l" (Start) position.
Clean.
K
Select a better location.
