MAINTENANCE CONSTRAINTS
1 - "DUAL PURPOSE" use: regular service visits must be performed at least every six months,
incorporating the following checks:
1.1 - Every 6 months:
- Monitor the insulation resistance (R > 10 MW at 500V DC); if R < 10 MW, dry the stator in an oven
and check the insulation resistance. If the fault persists, replace the stator.
- Open the drain holes to eliminate any accumulated condensation, then close them again to guarantee
the degree of protection indicated on the motor nameplate.
- Ensure there is no dust or grease in the entire cooling circuit (remove anything that might adversely
affect motor cooling).
- Check the state of the power supply cables.
- Check that any accessories are fixed securely.
1.2 - Every year:
- Replace all the seals on IP65 or IP66 motors*.
1.3 - After 20,000 hours of operation or after 5 years from the date of installation, we strongly
recommend replacement of the stator and bearings, or the complete motor. For motors with ring oiling
bearings, this period may be extended for 40,000 hours of operation, provided that the fan axial and
radial loads permit (a set of specifications must be provided for approval by Technical Services).
1.4 - For motors fitted with bearings with grease nipples, top up with grease if necessary in
accordance with the information on the nameplate (quality, quantity of grease and frequency), or
regrease the bearings at least every 2 years in the case of special applications: intermittent duty,
humid atmosphere, etc.
*IP 65 or IP 66 motors (with reinforced seal):
Each time the motor is dismantled, replace the seals on the shaftways, the shield spigots, the terminal
box cover and body, and the cable gland or its support with new seals of the same type after cleaning
all parts. The seals on the shaftways must be lubricated using the same grease as on the bearings
(see reference specified on the nameplate).
2 - Use for smoke extraction only:
- We recommend running the motors for at least 1 hour every month and for motors in the vertical
position, 15 minutes every fortnight.
- Follow the instructions given above (sections 1.1 to 1.4).
• The dielectric test has been carried out at the factory before despatch. If it needs to be
repeated, it should be performed at the reduced voltage recommended in standard IEC 60034.
• These recommendations, instructions and descriptions refer to standard versions of the
motors. They do not take account of non-standard versions or special adaptations.
• Failure to adhere to these recommendations may lead to premature wear and tear of the
motors and may invalidate the manufacturer warranty.
• Unless written authorisation has been obtained, the manufacturer cannot be held responsible
for any action which could affect the motors' safe operation.
AFTER OPERATION IN SMOKE EXTRACTION MODE, THE MOTORS SHOULD BE
REPLACED.
