EDUCING THE
ECEIVER
This section describes possible methods of reducing both the
physical size and weight of the receiver.
These modifications should only be carried out by experienced
modellers, as they call for a certain level of technical expertise
as well as the requisite tools. Please exercise care and caution
when carrying out the modifications.
! Caution: any modification to the receiver invalidates the
guarantee!
1.
Work on a clean, soft surface.
2.
Remove the receiver case.
3.
Lay the receiver down with the servo sockets facing the
work surface. You will see two rows of perforations on the
circuit board (1 and 2)
! Note:
Steps 4., 5. and 6. described below should be carried out on
perforations 1 if you wish to operate the receiver with a
maximum of four servo channels, and intend to retain the
micro-connector system.
Steps 4., 5. and 6. described below should be carried out on
perforations 2 if you wish to operate the receiver with a
maximum of six servo channels, and intend to solder the servo
leads directly to the circuit board.
4.
Carefully run the tip of a sharp knife along the row of per-
forations (1 or 2) in order to score the circuit board. Don't
use excessive force!
5.
Now turn the circuit board over. Place the edge of a
triangular file (or other pointed instrument) under the scored
perforations (1 or 2)
6.
Hold the left-hand part of the circuit board in one hand, and
carefully press the row of sockets down using your other
hand: the circuit board will now break along the per-
forations. The result of this action is shown in
the supplementary sheet.
7.
If you intend to use the receiver with six servo channels and
directly soldered servo leads, the two remaining servo
sockets now have to be unsoldered. Position the tip of the
soldering iron in such a way that all three contacts of one
micro-socket are unsoldered simultaneously.
8.
Remove the solder from the contacts using a solder pump
or desoldering braid:
shows the results of this procedure.
9.
Connect the servo wires to the now vacant solder pads by
soldering the signal wires of servos 1, 2, ..., 6 to the pads
marked 1, 2, ..., 6 on the circuit board. You will find two
solder pads on the receiver circuit boards for the positive
wires and two for the negative wires: these are marked with
"+" and "-" in
