Applying the Clip Sensor
Step
1
Choose the Clip Sensor that is compatible with your SpO
instrument.
2
At the back of the sensor, press the
two spring-tabs together to open the
padded finger cavity at the front of the
sensor. Guide the open finger cavity
over the fingertip, assuring that the
sensor cable rests on top of the
patient's hand. Slowly release the
spring-tabs to "secure" the sensor to
the fingertip:
• The patient's fingertip should slightly touch the back of the finger cavity
inside the sensor.
• You may need to trim the patient's fingernail to position the sensor cor-
rectly.
3
Position your thumb and forefinger
between the two spring-tabs at the
back of the sensor and spread the
spring-tabs apart. This expands the
back end of the sensor for improved
patient comfort and more secure sen-
sor fit.
4
Plug the sensor cable connector into the SpO
adapter cable.
5
Move the sensor to a different finger every four hours, or more often if
circulation or skin integrity is compromised.
Reapplying the Clip Sensor
The Clip Sensor may be reapplied to any finger on the same patient by
repeating the procedure above. Always clean and disinfect the sensor as
described later in this IFU before applying it to a different patient.
