Cleaning and Low-Level Disinfection
The reusable Clip Sensors should be cleaned and disinfected, but never
sterilized. Follow the procedure outlined below.
Warnings
•
Use only validated cleaning solutions and disinfectants listed below;
do not use any others. Failure to do so may damage the sensor or its
connecting wires and shorten product lifetime or cause safety hazards.
•
Protect the sensor and connector from becoming soaked with any liq-
uid. Do not immerse the sensor or connector in any cleaning solution,
disinfectant, or other liquid (the sensor and connector may be wiped
with cleaner and disinfectant but never immersed).
•
Do not autoclave the sensor or use bleaches containing sodium
hypochlorite (e.g. Clorox™).
•
Do not sterilize the sensors.
Validated Cleaning Solutions and Disinfectants
Cleaner:
Isopropanol (70%) or
Isopropanol Wipe (70%)

Clean and disinfect by wiping all sensor surfaces, including finger
pads and cable, with a clean cloth dampened with a validated
cleaning/disinfecting solution.

Wipe the sensor with a water-dampened cloth to remove all
cleaner/disinfectant residue. Then dry all sensor and cable sur-
faces with a clean, dry cloth.

Set the sensor aside allowing it to dry completely. If you notice
any signs of deterioration or damage to the sensor or cable,
immediately dispose following proper procedures defined by your
medical facility.
Disinfectant:
10% Bleach*/Water Solution.
*DO NOT use bleach containing sodium hypochlorite
