a
djusting the antenna
1- After placing the antenna preferably vertical on the floor, on a table or in a chair, open the
suitcase at a 90º angle to be stable and to be able to access the condenser setting.
2-Connect the antenna coaxial cable to the radio equipment.
3-Start the receiver or transceiver (listen only) in one of the bands covered between 6,900 and
24,600 Mhz. The silence of the band has to be noticeably greater than usual, unless by chance the
antenna is tuned in that sector of the band.
4- Raise the volume of the receiver to a high level, where you can see the blowing or noise.
5- Turn the variable capacitor knob to the 0º position and start to rotate slowly until it reaches
180º, at some point of that turn will increase the blower of the receiver
6- After leaving the variable capacitor knob in the maximum blowing position, return to the
transceiver knob and move it until you hear a radio station.
Reset the variable antenna capacitor to get the highest level in the s-meter of the transceiver.
If it is desired to emit, put the transceiver in the lowest power possible and with carrier type CW,
FM, or AM and emitting to retouch the variable capacitor for maximum output and minimum
return level (SWR). The antenna is tuned and can output with maximum power.
NOTE 1:
It is possible that at the highest frequencies, between 14 and 21 Mhz. The adjustment is affected
by the presence of the operator's hand. Check this simply by seeing that the antenna perfectly
tunes to 1.2 ROE and withdrawing the hand this level rises. The only solution is to adjust slightly
above and when the hand is removed the adjustment will return to proper values.
This situation depends on the position of the operator with respect to the antenna and its hand
humidity level.
NOTE 2:
The antenna changes its tune, from being open to being closed. Lowering the frequency when
closed.
Note 3:
The antenna in transmission can generate very high voltages but of very low intensity.
This can cause burns on human skin and burns on conductive or moisture-containing objects.
Therefore, it is advisable to make it completely empty.
