POWER SUPPLY

The LEI RS485 plug-in board is supplied with 5 V dc by the
unit base board (NRCP2 or PD5) through a male header
connector between pins 1 and 2.

BUS CONNECTION

Only one serial port is available on the board, a JBus port
located on connector J1. Pin 1 (+) provides the + JBus signal
and pin 3 (-) provides the - JBus signal. Pin 2 is used for
electronic ground connection. A mating J1 connector is
supplied.
The serial channel permits RS-485 differential multi-drop
operation. Bus connection between the modules must be
through a three-core shielded cable. The bus segment can be
up to 1000 metres in length.
Important: Ensure the continuity of the shielding along the
length of the bus. Connect one point of the shielding to the
installation earth. The total equipment earth must have
equipotential.
Metal earth connector
Note that the JBus wire is strapped in the metal earth connector
to ensure that the shield is connected to the installation earth.
The CCN signal is provided by the unit base board through the
male header plug. Pin 1 (+) provides the + CCN signal and pin
3 (-) provides the - CCN signal. Pin 2 is used for CCN ground
connection.
RS-485 signal characteristics are EIA Standard compatible.

BOARD LEDs

The gateway includes 3 LEDs for operation control.
· The red LED indicates the board status. This LED normally
flashes at a 1-second rate to show that the board operates
properly. When this LED is either permanently lit or flashes
very quickly or very slowly, this indicates a faulty board.
When this LED is permanently off, this indicates that the
board power supply must be checked.
· The yellow LED flashes to indicate communications on the
CCN pins of the plug.
· The green LED flashes to indicate communications on the
JBus bus.
