Turning the radio ON
Press and hold the button. The unit will "beep" with dual tone and the LCD screen will briefly display a
self-test screen.
LC-Display
Turning the radio OFF
Press and hold the button. The unit will "beep" with a signal tone and the LCD Screen will turn blank.
Adjusting volume:
•
to increase receiver volume press up-button
•
To decrease receiver volume press down-button
The selected volume level will be displayed by the number of bars
Note: Buttons may be blocked when keylock is activated!
Receiving a signal:
The radio is continuously in the receive mode when the unit is on and not transmitting. When you
receive a signal on the current channel, the RX icon BUSY is displayed. (See LCD screen for details).
Transmitting a Signal:
Check the channel activity by pressing and holding the Monitor M button. You'll hear static noise if the
channel is unoccupied. Don't transmit if someone is talking on the channel.
•
Press and hold the PTT button to transmit. The TX red LED Indicator will light up.
•
Hold the unit in a vertical position with the microphone about 5 -7 cm away from the mouth.
It is important, that You and all Your partner stations have tuned their radios to the same operating
channel!
Sending call tones:
You can use call tones to alert the other parties when you are attempting to contact them. You can also
use call tones to signal the beginning or the end of a transmission.
•
Press the call button C, the red TX LED indicator will light up and the call continues for 3
seconds (a kind of calling melody).
•
Release the C button, your call tone will be heard in all nearby receivers set to the same
channel.
Changing Channels:
The radio has 8 available communication channels.
To change channels:
•
Press the menu button
•
While the channel number is flashing: Press
move to a lower channel. The channel changes from 1 to 8, or from 8 to 1.
•
Press the enter button
Notes:
Channel change operations are disabled during keyboard lock mode.
