Automatic speech transmission (VOX control function)
On VOX mode, the radio can automatically switch between receive and transmit mode by voice control
without pressing any button.
To turn on the VOX function:
•
Press MENU
•
While the VOX icon is flashing, press
•
Press MENU
Note: The VOX sensitivity is indicated by the number of bars displayed in the lower right corner of the
LCD Screen. If You should have selected a too sensitive setting, You may press ENTER
stop transmitting for 4 seconds. This will give You time to re-adjust the VOX sensitivity to lower level if
the surroundings is too noisy which cause transmitting continuously.
To turn off the VOX function:

While the VOX icon is flashing, press

twice to confirm the VOX off mode.
To use an external MIC / headphone for VOX operation:
•
First set the radio to VOX mode,
•
after that insert the connector of the headset (e.g. AE 740, not included) into SPK/MIC jacks of
the radio.
Speak through the microphone of the headset to activate the voice controlled transmitting mode.
Transmitting mode will turn on automatically and if You stay silent, switches back to standby mode. You
don't have to push the PTT button of the headset while transmitting. The TX LED indicator illuminates
red when transmitting.
Note: If You use an external MIC/Phone set like AE 740, make sure that the AE 740 is switched to
"VOX".
Switching back to PTT operation
If You switch back to PTT operation, You should first switch the AE 740 back to PTT and after this
reset the radio to PTT operation again.
Stop watch (second counter) function:
The radio has a built-in second counter from 00 to 99 seconds.
To enter second counter mode:
•
Press
5 times (or so often, until counter meter is flashing) to enter second counter mode.
•
While the second counter meter is flashing: Press
•
Press
to pause the second counter.
•
Press
to confirm the second counter and return to the original default channel automatically;
If an active signal is detected while in the second counter mode, the radio will return to RECEIVE mode
automatically.
Reset of the second counter meter:
Once enter the second counter mode and while it is flashing, press
counter to 00 status and press
4 times (or so often, until VOX is flashing) to enter the VOX mode;
twice to confirm the selected mode.
