Battery level indicator and charging batteries:
The BATTERY LEVEL is indicated by the number of squares present inside the BATTERY icon
the LCD Screen. When the BATTERY LEVEL is low, the BATTERY icon will flash to indicate that the
batteries need to be replaced.
Warning! Hazard! Never attempt to charge this unit using an AC/DC adapter with regular "AAA"
alkaline batteries installed. Only use optional AC/DC charger adapter when "AAA" Ni-MH rechargeable
batteries (not included) are inserted.
Battery Charge Indication
During BATTERY CHARGE mode, the BATTERY indicator will keep flashing. Please ensure that the
unit is turned off during BATTERY CHARGE mode.
To charge batteries in the radio:
For recharging NiMH batteries (not included) you will be required to use an AC/DC wall charger - Input
230 VAC 50 Hz - Output 100mA DC charging current (our order No. 73620, not included).

Insert 4 pcs "AAA" NI-MH rechargeable batteries (not included)

Turn the unit OFF
•
Plug the adaptor into the wall outlet and insert the round connector of the charger cable into the
combined SP-MIC-CHG socket on the top of the radio.

After finishing charging unplug the adaptor.
•
Turn the unit ON.
The BATTERY LEVEL INDICATOR on the LCD Screen will display the new BATTERY LEVEL.
Note: It takes approximately 6 hours to charge partly discharged batteries. If they are at their lowest
level it will take around 14 hours to fully charge new batteries or fully discharged batteries.
Automatic energy saving circuit
The radio transceiver has a built in POWER SAVER feature for maximum battery life. It switches
automatically to power save mode during longer receiving periods without incoming signals.
When the radio is not being used, You should conserve battery power by pressing the button to OFF.
Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a longer period of time. Forgotten batteries may be
discharged within some months in the battery compartment, leakage may occur which can destroy
batteries, contact springs and even the sensitive electronic circuit in the radio.
Troubleshooting
No power:
Check batteries. Ensure that the batteries are installed properly. If the batteries have
been inserted longer time ago, the contacts may be corroded. Please clean contacts
of battery and radio! The batteries may be discharged or too weak, replace old
batteries with four (4) new "AAA" alkaline batteries or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.
Check volume setting: Press
Weak reception: The receiving signal may be weak and/or out of range. If this happens, press the
MONITOR M button. Press
Buttons blocked: Keyboard lock function may be activated. Press
channels, press the MENU button until the channel number flashes on the LCD
Screen. Press Up or Down buttons to change channels.
Range is limited: Batteries may be weak. Replace with new batteries if the BATTERY LEVEL
indicator is low.
The maximum range will vary depending on terrain and environment. Open fields
provide the maximum range, while steel/concrete structures and use in buildings
to increase VOLUME.
