Incorrectly performed installation work can lead to serious injury!
Poisoning from inhaling vapors or swallowing fluids. Injury from contact with skin or eyes. Draining fluids
can ignite on hot parts. Avoid sparks and open flames.
 Do not smoke. Wear protective clothing.
WARNING
Even minimal contamination can lead to steering failure!
Please maintain absolute cleanliness when working on hydraulic steering systems.
Check everything in the vicinity of the steering system and the mechanical connectors with care, espe-
cially when replacing steering components after an accident. Replace the following parts if they show
signs of mechanical damage:
 axle and suspension mounting
 tires and rims
 mechanical connectors
 steering gearbox

Before removing the steering pump

1. Carefully clean the components of the steering system.
2. After removing the steering pump, flush the complete steering hydraulic system. Follow the instructions in infor-
mation "Rinsing and ventilating the steering system".
3. Use only typespecific, fresh hydraulic oil (check manufacturers' specifications). Dispose of used hydraulic oil
properly.

Installing the steering pump

1. Use only new fasteners, seals and securing components. Tighten all threaded connections to the specified
torque. Bleed the steering hydraulic system.
2. Follow the instructions in information "Rinsing and ventilating the steering system".
3. Check the steering hydraulic system for proper sealing.
