Exchanging the spring
(A) Dismantling:
Feed in the cable to the cable stop and disconnect the wor-
king load. Then disconnect the device.
Release the spring:
place an Allen key (6 mm) on the spring locking device. Grip
the key firmly when the spring locking device is unlocked by
pressing the spring eyelet (10) in the direction of the "–"
symbol. A force now acts on the Allen key in the "–"-direc-
tion of the spring locking device. Release this force until the
elastic cable stop buffer is no longer up against the housing.
First apply the clamping spring, then remove the Allen key
from the spring locking device.
Never release the spring beyond full unload, or it will
be destroyed.
Remove the spring locking device retaining ring on the side
of the housing cover and lift off the washer.
Grip the clamping spring with the side of the housing cover
coupling in a vice and using a screwdriver inserted through
the clamping spring eyelet carefully open it and pull the
clamping spring from the spring locking device. Leave the
clamping spring in the vice for the re-assembly.
Do not open the clamping spring too wide, or it will
loose its clamping effect.
Screw off the housing cover. Screw off the cable drum
cover. Remove the spring from the cable drum.
The damaged spring is replaced by a new spring.
The replacement spring must be greased before being ins-
erted into the cable drum. The manufacturer recommends
"Glissando VW 745" grease or "Renolit SO-WB".
If a different strength of spring is used, the type details and
the load range on the nameplate are to be altered accor-
dingly.
(B) Assembly:
Insert the new spring into the cable drum:
To do so, the external spring suspension must point to the
left and engage in the groove in the housing. The internal
spring suspension must engage in the groove in the spring
locking device so that trouble-free operation is possible,
turning the spring locking device if necessary so that the
internal spring suspension can slide into the groove the
spring locking device.
Screw the cable drum cover on, pressing the spring fractu-
re-proof device (type 7228...03–05) in slightly while doing
so. Place the spacing ring on the spring locking device and
screw on the housing cover. In this connection, the housing
cover aperture for coupling the clamping spring must point
to the left. Push the clamping spring onto the spring locking
device in the opposite order to dismantling.
Place the washer and the retaining ring on the spring
locking device.
To pre-tension the spring see Adjusting the Load.
Replaced rings must be properly disposed of.
CAUTION: Springs can fly out when bandings or
rivets are removed and can cause injury.

Changing the housing
The replacement part set "housing complete" consists of
the housing with cover and 4 screws, nameplate and
assembled anti-fall arrangement.
(C) Dismantling:
The housing is partly dismantled, as described in Exchan-
ging the spring (see
[A]).
Unscrew the housing cover.
Take the fully assembled unit of cable drum with spring and
spring locking device out of the housing. Unwind the cable
and lift it out of the cable drum.
Remove the suspension from the housing.
(D) Assembly
Attach the suspension to the new housing.
From outside, pull the cable through the mouth of the new
housing and secure it in the cable drum.
Now insert the fully assembled unit of cable drum with
spring and spring locking device into the housing. Then
wind up the cable by turning the cable drum.
Assemble further as described in Exchanging the spring
(see
[B]).
Changing the cable drum
The replacement part set "cable drum complete" consists
of the cable drum and cover with 4 screws and spring frac-
ture-proof device (for type 7228...03 – 05).
The spring mechanism is dismantled as described in
Exchanging the spring (see
The assembly is carried out as described in Exchanging the
spring (see
[B]).
Changing the suspension
The replacement part set "suspension complete" consists
of the screw spring hook and the pin. Remove the screw
spring hook from the pin. Take the pin out of the housing.
Fasten a new pin and the screw spring hook.
