STORAGE OF THIS MANUAL

Keep this manual in a safe place near the equipment. All people that work on or with the equipment shall know
where it is stored.
2.3

INTRODUCTION

SMART ATEX indicator is an equipment designed to be safe in normal operation. It is appropriate for applications for
which Category 3 for Gas (zone 2) and Dust (zone 22) equipments can be used. Furthermore it is appropriate for
Category 2 Dust only (zone 21).
2.4

STORAGE

Store this equipment in a dry and fresh environment to prevent damp entry and condensation.
2.5

INSTALLATION

2.5.1

General

Installation of this equipment shall be performed according to EN 60079-14 standard and/or local regulations for
hazardous zones, when appropriate.
Do not perform the installation until the installer is familiar with all warnings, cautions and procedures that appear
in this manual.
Follow the connection diagrams for a correct installation.
Do not tighten the screws too tightly.
It is necessary to ensure that each cable is of the appropriate type and that the wires are connected strongly
enough in their terminal blocks.
2.5.2

Opening of the equipment

WARNING
Do not open the equipment if it is connected to the power mains.
Indicator is delivered without the external connections. For this disassemble the back cover by unscrewing the 12
M3 screws that binds it with the front cover.
2.5.3

Cable entry

According to the options that indicator has built, up to five cables shall be connected by means of the cable glands
that the equipment has.
Ensure that:
Properly tighten the cable glands for proper cable subjection.
External diameter of the cables used shall be adequate to the cable gland size which is from 6 to 8mm.
Leave the blind plug in the unused cable glands making sure that are correctly tighten (see figure 2.5.3.1)
In case of disassembling the cable glands, before assembling it again verify that the o-ring is clean and in a good
condition.
From left to right the cable glands are (see figure 2.5.3.1):

Power supply: 230V/50Hz or 12 VDC equipment power supply entry.

Multioption: Optional Multioption board connection cable entry (x2) (2
RS-485).
-
Communications: Standard RS-232.
-
Load cell: load cell or scale cable entry.
Besides the cable entry cable glands, the equipment has a cable gland for the restricted breathing (nR) test required
for zone 2 installations.
