Configurations
Here are some typical connection configurations that you could use with your unit.
BERT and Protocol Analysis
The bit error rate (BER) is the ratio of bits transmitted incorrectly compared to the
total number of bits received in a transmission. The BERT (bit error rate tester) will
measure the BER for a given transmission.
The test setup below shows how the FVA-600 is used to attenuate the signal sent to
the transceiver before being analyzed by the BERT or Protocol tester.

Overload and Sensitivity
The FVA-600 can be used to mesure either the overload or sensitivity value of the
connection from the transmitter to the receiver.
Increasing the power value will show the overload limit, and reducing the power to
a given target error rate value will show the sensitivity threshold.
