Troubleshooting

Error Message Problem
A measurement was
attempted before the
thermometer was
ready.
The ambient tempera-
ture is not within the
proper measurement
range between 50 °F ~
104°F (10° ~ 40°C)
The thermometer is
placed incorrectly or is
unsteady.
The thermometer is de-
tecting rapid ambient
temperature change.
The thermometer is not
functioning properly.
The thermometer is in
OBJECT mode, but is
detecting a lens cover.

Solution
Only attempt to take
a measurement when
EAR or OBJECT symbols
appear on the display.
Place the thermometer
in a room for at least 30
minutes at room tem-
perature between 50 °F
~ 104°F (10° ~ 40°C)
Refer to "How To Take
A Reading - Ear" and
take a new tempera-
ture reading.
Place the thermometer
in a room for at least 30
minutes at room tem-
perature between 50 °F
~ 104°F (10° ~ 40°C)
Remove the batteries
and wait 1 minute
before replacing the
batteries.
Remove the lens cover
and attempt a new
measurement.
