This wall pack is designed to be mounted to a recessed junction box or
directly to the wall for wiring via surface conduit.
DO NOT MOUNT WITH LIGHT AIMING UP
CAUTION - Regarding EL Models:
• The emergency battery pack is designed to provide emergency lighting for 90
miunutes upon loss of utility power.
• Battery is rechargeable Ni-Cd type and must be recycled or disposed of
properly. Do not use this battery driver with accessory equipment other than
recommended by manufacturer; failure to follow this may cause an unsafe
condition.
• Do not use battery driver for other than intended use. Not suitable for high-risk
task area lighting.
• Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where it will not
readily be subjected to tampering by unauthorized personnel.
• Do not mount near gas or electric heaters.
Remove fi xture components and parts pack. Check to ensure all parts are
included. Note: Account for small parts and destroy packing material, as these
may be hazardous to children.
Turn OFF Power at circuit breaker box.
CAUTION: Do not rely on wall switch alone to turn off power
1. Remove the door assembly (2) from rear housing. Remove Decorative Plugs
and loosen two screws (3) on the front, open door, unhook tether and separate door
assembly from rear housing. Note: Do not remove screws completely
2A. For junction box mounting, thread house supply wires through the center hole
in rear housing and secure the rear housing to junction box using mounting
screws (5) provided.
2B. For conduit mounting prepare the rear housing for wall mounting by
drilling out appropriate mounting hole knock outs. Note: See FIGURE A on last
page for Mounting hole locations. Secure the rear housing to wall in appropriate
method and connect the liquid-tight conduit fi tting to any of the 1/2" conduit entry
holes. Note: Assure that fi xture is mounted onto a structurally sound surface and
use mounting hardware appropriate for your application.
3. Reconnect door to rear housing and secure with tether.
CAUTION: WIRING AND FIXTURE OPERATION
Make sure power is turned off .
4. Ground fi xture using wire nut to connect the (copper or green) house supply
ground wire & the green fi xture ground wire. Note: If house wiring does not
include a ground wire, consult your local electrical code for approved grounding
methods.
For proper connection, place wire nut over wires
and twist clockwise until tight.
5. Connect supply wires using wire nut to connect the black fi xture wire to the
black power supply wire and the white fi xture wire to the white (neutral) supply
wire. Note for EL Models: Power to the battery needs to be supplied using an
un-switched power source. Power for regular illumination can be either switched
or un-switched as needed.
Note for EL Models: Connect the battery leads for battery backup function to be
activated.
6. Close Door and tighten screws to 15-20 in-lbs. Do not over-tighten the
screws. Note: make sure no wires are pinched before tightening screws. Install
Decorative plugs to cover screw heads.
7. Turn on electricity at fuse or circuit breaker box and verify success of
installation.

For Wet Location compliance, fi xture must be properly sealed! Apply
caulking to the perimeter of the fi xture between the housing and the wall (top and
two sides) leaving the bottom side clear of any caulking. Caulking will prevent
any water coming down the wall from entering the fi xture. Note: Do not apply
caulking on the bottom.
Make sure all wiring access holes are sealed with weatherproof silicone
sealant (not included)!
Note for EL Models: When power is supplied to the battery the test button will light
up indicating the battery is charging. Allow the battery to charge for at least 24 hours,
then perform a short test by pushing the test button. The fi xture will switch to battery
mode and deliver about half the normal illumination. After the battery is fully charged
(at least 48 hours of continuous power) a full 90 minute test can be performed by
cutting power to the fi xture.
Note for EL Models: It is recommended and required by applicable code to
test battery driver to ensure proper function of the system. Push the test switch
for thirty (30) seconds every thirty (30) days to ensure the battery driver is
functioning by illuminating the light source. Conduct a ninety (90) minutes
discharge test one (1) time per year; LED light source should be illuminated for a
minimum of ninety (90) minutes.
