POWER CONNECTION KIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Heating cable with braid and no outer jacket
Note: Instructions show SLCBL-BP/BF series heating cable with braid and outer jacket. The SLCBL-B series heating
cable without an outer jacket looks slightly different from those illustrated.
1.
Open sealing fitting and slide the junction box fitting
cap, strain relief disk, grommet, and the fitting body
onto the power end of the cable.
2.
For heating cable with outer jacket, lightly score
completely around and then down outer jacket a
distance of 7" (178mm).
CAUTION: Do not cut braid or inner jacket.
3.
Bend heating cable to break jacket at score, then
peel off outer jacket.
4.
Using a screwdriver, carefully make a little hole in
the braid, as shown.
5.
Bend heating cable and work it through the opening
in the braid, as shown.

Position braid on one side of heating cable. Carefully
strip the inner jacket of cable 6" (15.2cm).
7.
Carefully strip core material from conductors using a
utility knife/razor blade.
8.
Carefully peel back exposed wires back from core
material.
CAUTION: Do not cut bus wire strands!

9.
Cut and remove remaining center core of matrix,
leaving bare conductors.
CAUTION: Do not cut bus wires!
10.
Install black shrink tubes 5-1/2" (14cm) over each
conductor to core material as shown.
11.
Carefully shrink heat-shrink tubing by moving heat
source from side to side continuously; being
careful not to damage heating cable.
12.
Install green/yellow heat-shrink tubing over braid
and heat-shrink it to the braid.

13.
Center black shrink tube 1" (2.5cm) over the end
of heating cable, as shown.
14.
Heat tube evenly until it shrinks and adhesive
flows out both ends.
15.
Immediately pinch with pliers between wires while
tube is still hot. Hold for 10 seconds to ensure
seal.
16.
For heating cables with outer jacket, slide parts
into position as shown.
