Points to note prior to installation
Application
The GROHE shower fitting can be used in
conjunction with a pressurised storage heater or an
instantaneous heater.
Operation with unpressurised storage heaters
(= open water heaters) is not possible.
This fitting may only be installed by
a specialist installer.
You will need the following tools:
• 22mm and 30mm open-ended spanners
• Screwdriver and thermometer
You will also need hemp and sealing compound.
Make sure that you do not damage the fitting
surfaces with the tool during installation.
Note the sequence of illustrations on fold-out
pages 3 and 4.
The cold water supply must be
connected on the right, hot water supply
on the left.
Installing the S-unions
Figure 1: Wrap the 1/2" thread (end inserted into the
wall) with hemp and apply sealing compound. Screw
the S-unions horizontally into the supply pipes at
intervals of 150mm.
Observe the correct installation depth of
the S-unions.
You can increase the projection by 30mm with an
extension (Prod. no.: 46 238), see Replacement
Parts on fold-out page 2.
Installing the fitting
Figure 2:
1.Fit the sleeves preassembled with the
escutcheons A onto the S-unions.
2.Remove the protective covers B from the union
nuts on the fitting and check that the dirt strainers C
are inserted correctly. Screw the union nuts on the
fitting onto the S-unions.
To avoid water damage in the wall, check all
connections for watertightness.
3.Push the sleeves with the escutcheons onto the
union nuts.
4.Screw the escutcheons flush against the wall.
Technical data
To ensure correct operation of the fitting, the flow
pressure should be between 1 and 5 bar.
The hot water temperature at the fitting inlet must not
exceed 80 °C. To save energy, we recommend an
inlet temperature of 60 °C.
Water supply line
Shut off the cold and hot water lines before
removing the old fitting. In the case of a new
installation, flush the cold and hot water
lines well with water prior to installation. Otherwise
any residues remaining in the lines may block the
fitting and contaminate the drinking water.
Installation
Temperature setting
Figure 3: The fitting is calibrated at a cold and hot
water pressure of 3 bar at the factory.
Turn the shut-off handle D to the left and check
whether the temperature of the running water
corresponds to the temperature set on the
temperature control handle E.
If the outlet temperature of the water does not
correspond to the temperature on the handle,
resetting (adjustment) is required.
Reversed connection
If you have reversed the fitting connections (hot on
right – cold on left) a special thermostatic compact
cartridge is available, see Replacement Parts on fold-
out page 2, Prod. no.: 47 175 (1/2").
When using this thermostatic compact cartridge,
the Cool Touch function is no longer available.
Adjustment
Please proceed as follows:
Figure 4:
1.Lever out the cap F.
2.Remove the screw G and remove the temperature
control handle E.
3.Turn the regulating nut H until the water
temperature reaches 38 °C.
4.Reinstall the temperature control handle E so that
the E1 marking on the handle coincides with
the 38 °C marking on the scale ring.
5.Screw the temperature control handle E into place
once more using the screw G and replace
the cap F.
