If the nature of the surrounding area means that a radio module is located outside the radio
transmission range of the other devices in the same radio group, you may be able to rectify this by
installing an additional radio module/PROTECTOR KRF 9 V detector. The device's in-built repeater
will help strengthen the radio signal to ensure that an alarm is automatically relayed from one
detector to another within the radio group.
5 • OPERATION
Silencing
All radio modules/PROTECTOR KRF 9 V devices will emit an intermittent sound when the alarm is
triggered. If you briefly press and hold down the button for approx. 1 second (Fig. 8.1) on the device
that initiated the alarm, all the other radio modules/smoke detectors will also automatically cancel
the alarm after a maximum of approx. 30 seconds for a period of approx. 10-13 minutes. If you
briefly press and hold down the button for approx. 1 second on the device receiving the signal, only
this device will be muted.
Test
The radio module continuously carries out an automatic self-test. Amongst other things, this is used
to periodically test the electronics, the voltage and the internal resistance of the battery. The red LED
(Fig. 8.3) will flash briefly approx. every 35 seconds to indicate that the device is working correctly
and that it is ready for use. A function test should also be performed at least once per year for safety
reasons.
If you press and hold down the button for approx. 1 second (Fig. 8.1), the radio module will trigger
a test alarm and will then revert to standard mode. We recommend that you allow a 5-10 minute
interval between tests to give the radio system a chance to process all information and radio signals.
WARNING! If you hold the button down for longer than 2 seconds (Fig. 8.1), the radio module will enter
programming mode. The device will revert to standard mode after 60 seconds. Please refer to the section
entitled "Creating a radio group". If you hold down the button for approx. 5 seconds or more, this will
delete the settings for the radio group and the radio module will revert to the factory settings in standard
mode. alarm signals and fault signals will not be transmitted to other devices. Please refer to the section
entitled "Deleting programmed settings/factory setting".
