1) GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
The CKE range's of booster sets are designed to deliver water at a constant pressure.
There are two different range of sets controlled by the ESD variable speed driver:
CKED CKET CKEC : duty assist configuration in cascade operation. Duty pumps in variable speed operation,
assist pumps in fixed speed operation controlled by the ESD from the duty pump.
CKE2 CKE3 CKE4 : duty assist configuration in cascade operation. Duty and assist in variable speed
operation, each pump provided with an ESD inverter. Duty cyclic changeover between duty and assist
pumps. All pumps in variable speed operation.
The speed of the motors is regulated to adjust the hydraulic performance of the set to the variations in the
flow demands. The ESD variable frequency driver unit receives a proportional signal from the pressure
transducer ( 0-4 /20 mA) fitted on the discharge manifold. The ESD processes this signal and regulates the
motor speed in order to keep the pressure constant at the established level, regardless of the variations in
flow demand. When the flow demand is bigger than the maximum flow for one pump at maximum speed, the
ESD successively orders the start-up of the assist pumps ( in variable speed for CKE2, 3, 4 or fixed speed
DOL for CKD, T , C). The duty pumps, that is operating as a MASTER, receives directly the pressure level
from the transducer, and controls all the assist pumps provided by others ESD operating in assist position
or provided by ELV.
Allows 50 Hz or 60 Hz power frequency.
This type of adjustment allows for the energy consumption to be greatly reduced compared with non-
adjustable systems. Another of the advantages of an equipment with adjustment is reduction of water
hammering, the smoothing of electric power surges and, therefore, extending the pump's useful life.
WARNING: Adequate compliance with the installation and operating instructions, as well as the
electrical connection diagrams, ensures proper equipment functioning.
DANGER: Not following the instructions in this manual can lead to motor overloads, diminishment
in technical characteristics, reduction of equipment life and all types of other consequences, for
which we disclaim any liability.
