Description of the Product and Functions
DP/EIB Link is a rail-mounted device with standard
dimensions. DP/EIB Link connects instabus EIB with
PROFIBUS DP.
DP/EIB Link is both a PROFIBUS-DP Slave and EIB
device at the same time:
Using DP/EIB Link, you can access any EIB devices
from within PROFIBUS DP; you can
•
activate switches, and set or modify displays by
writing data records from the DP Master;
•
query states, detect switching events and
evaluate displays by reading data records.
Using ETS (EIB Tool Software), you can select
application programs, assign specific parameters and
addresses and transfer them to the device.
Application Programs
A diskette containing a GSD file and ETS project file is
supplied with the manual.

Display elements
1 EIB LED:
The LED is lit red after pressing the programming
button once. The DP/EIB Link can now be loaded with
the EIB address (physical address) or the application
using ETS/EIB .

Lit when the 24 V power supply is OK.
1 DP/BF LED
Lit when there are problems on PROFIBUS-DP
1 EIB/BF LED
Lit when there is a problem on the DP/EIB LINK or on
the instabus EIB.

sub-D female connector
• EIB bus: via standard EIB bus terminals

Installation Instructions
•
The device can be used for fixed installation in
interior rooms, in dry rooms and for installation in
power distribution cabinets.

• The device must only be installed and put into
operation by a qualified electrician.
• The device must not be connected to 230 V.
• In cable installation tests, that measure core to core
(in contrast to the standard DIN VDE 0100 T. 610),
the device must be disconnected otherwise it can be
destroyed.
• Free rail areas with an inserted data bus should be
covered with cover 5WG1 192-8AA01.
• The relevant safety and accident prevention
regulations must be adhered to.
The device must not be opened. A defective device
•
must be sent to the appropriate Siemens center.
Installation and Wiring
Bus attachments
Attachment to instabus EIB is via standard EIB bus
terminals on the front panel.
The connection to the 24 V power supply/function
ground is via plug-in terminals.
Installation of the rail-mounted device ( Figure 2)
• Place the rail-mounted device (B1) on to the rail (B2)
and
push in the bottom part of the device until you hear
•
the catch snap into place.
Removing the rail-mounted device (Figure 2)
• Remove all connected cables (except for
PROFIBUS-DP),
• push down the catch (C3) with a screwdriver and
BCD coding switch
for setting/displaying

• pull out the bottom of the device (C1) from the rail
(C2) and lift it off.
