SECTION 1 - PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION
Tools Needed
Parts of this Puck Light Fixture
This Puck Light Fixture comes with a the 5' Power Cord with a polarized plug (one blade
wider than the other) as a safety feature. This plug can be used in a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fi t fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fi t,
contact a qualifi ed electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless the plug can be
fully inserted. Do not alter the plug. Become familiar with the parts of the light fi xture. See
Figure 1.

Puck light can be surface mounted or recessed in cabinet.

Puck body can be removed from the Surface Mount Base. See Figure 2.
Placement of Puck Light Fixture
First Puck Light Fixture placement. First mount fi xture that receives incoming electrical
supply. Determine location for connecting to nearest 120V polarized receptacle. (Note:
before mounting to cabinet be sure fi xture is within 5' of an electrical outlet, considering
path cord will take to be neatly and securely mounted to cabinet and wall.) If you are
not sure about this installation consult a local licensed electrician or electrical contractor
before proceeding.
Planning for multiple Puck Light Fixtures. Fixtures can be placed about 12" apart for
recess mount installations or about 16" apart for surface mount installations with the cords
that are attached to each fi xture. For added versatility and distance between fi xtures
your Westek KBLD Series Puck Lights come with 12" linking cords, extending the range to
about 24" to 28" between fi xtures. These fi gures are approximate, especially for recessed
installations in cabinets, so plan carefully the location and distance between fi xtures and
perform a dry run before cutting or drilling any holes.
SECTION 2 - INSTALLATION
Recessed Mounting:
Drill a 2-3/8" diameter hole for each Puck Light Fixture. (Note: read previous section on
Placement of Fixture before drilling any holes). Unsnap Puck Body from the Surface Mount
Base by pushing down fi rmly from bottom of black portion of Puck Body until friction fi t
snaps are released. The Surface Mount Base is not needed for this installation but you
should keep for future installations should you decide to surface mount your Puck Light
Fixture. Note: Orient Puck Light body so plug end with Locking Plug End is closest to 120V
receptacle or previously installed Puck Light. See Figure 2. Do the same for each fi xture
installation.
Feed the attached cables through the cut hole (Step 1) and push Puck Light into place
making sure the lead wires are not pinched or crimped in any way (Step 2). No screws are
needed. Light fi xture is held in place by friction. See Figure 3.
Surface Mounting:
Unsnap Puck Body from the Surface Mount Base by pushing down fi rmly from bottom of
black portion of Puck Body until friction fi t snaps are released. Place Surface Mount Base
on mounting surface and with a pencil mark the spot where the screws will be located.
Drill 1/32" pilot holes, 1/2" deep. Caution: Check your cabinet thickness fi rst. Be careful
not to drill through cabinet. Attach Surface Mount Base to cabinet by tightening screws
securely See Figure 4. Do the same for a multiple fi xture installation.
Feed the attached cables through the holes on the Surface Mount Base (Step 1) and snap
the Puck Light back into place making sure the lead wires are not pinched or crimped in

any way (Step 2). See Figure 5. Note: Orient Puck Light body so plug end with push down
locking connector is closest to 120V receptacle or previously installed Puck Light. Do the
same for a multiple fi xture installation.
Interconnecting Puck Light Fixtures:
Connect the lead wires and the 12" Linking Cords if used, between multiple pucks.
See Figure 6. Connect 5' Power Cord last and plug in to a 15A circuit grounded outlet.
Warning: Do not conceal power supply cord inside a wall, ceiling, soffi t or similar
permanent structure. Do not run the power supply cord through holes in walls, ceilings or
fl oors.
