Prepare to Install
! CAUTION: RISK OF FALLING OBJECTS. Read and follow all instructions
for mounting the shade system. Failure to follow these instructions could
result in minor to moderate injury.
Important Notes: Please Read Before Installing
Lutron systems are intended for use with only Lutron brackets, controls,
A.
and power supplies.
B. Codes: Install in accordance with all local and national electrical codes.
C. Environment: Ambient operating temperature: 32 °F - 104 °F
(0 °C - 40 °C), 0 - 90% humidity, non-condensing. Indoor use only.
D. The shade system, including the pocket, must be mounted to blocking or
other suitable structural material. It is the responsibility of the installer to
choose and install fasteners that are appropriate for the mounting surface
such that each shade bracket can support a load of 250 lbs (113.4 kg).
E. Maintain sufficient clearance between the moving shade and any object.
F. Mount fixed controls and keep remote controls out of reach of children.
G. DO NOT operate shades if there are visible signs of wear or damage.
! CAUTION: SAFETY NOTICE - DO NOT SUBSTITUTE PARTS. Some
Roller 64 (non-WIDR) parts may appear to be a correct fit in WIDR
systems, but using non-WIDR Roller 64 parts in a Roller 64 WIDR
installation will result in an unsafe condition.

Install the Pocket
2.1 Install Endcaps (if applicable)
Slide the 2 tabs of the pocket endcap
into the pocket until it is flush with the
outside. The endcap is held in place by
friction. No fasteners are required.
2.3 Pre-drill the Pocket for Cable Entry
Pre-drill the pocket to allow clearance for the wires without interfering with the bracket location.
See below for suggested hole locations.
• Cable should enter at the drive side of the system, and be located to avoid interference with
shade operation.
• The hole in the pocket must be large enough to allow adjustment during pocket installation without
pinching the wire.
• Ceiling entry:

2.4 Mount the Pocket
IMPORTANT: This procedure must be performed by 2 people, with one person supporting each end of the pocket. If the mounting surface cannot be reached when
standing on the floor, 2 ladders or lifts may also be required. It is recommended that all steps are reviewed by both installers before proceeding.
Fasten the pocket to the mounting surface according to the following guidelines:
NOTE: It is the responsibility of the installer to select and install mounting fasteners that are appropriate for
the mounting surface and capable of supporting the components and operating load of the shade system.
IMPORTANT: The mounted pocket must be level and un-twisted, with front and back walls plumb.
Shimming may be necessary to compensate for an irregular mounting surface. Check periodically
throughout the installation process to verify the pocket ceiling is level and its walls are plumb all
along the pocket's length.
When mounting the pocket between two jambs or walls, allow 1⁄8 in (3 mm) clearance on each end
to provide space for thermal expansion of the pocket. Failure to do so may result in pocket buckling.
A. Install fasteners in pairs* through the ceiling of the pocket into a solid structural member.
1) Leave a minimum 3 in (76 mm) clearance at each end of the pocket, and at other shade
bracket locations if applicable, to avoid interfering with shade bracket installation.
2) Install a pair of fasteners every 24 in (610 mm) along the pocket length.
3) Locate fasteners 1 in (25 mm) maximum from the front and rear walls of the pocket.
Anchor
* IMPORTANT: Locate mounting screws
in pairs only as shown. This will keep the
pocket walls plumb and prevent twisting.
DO NOT arrange the fasteners in a
single row or zig-zag pattern.

Mark the Shade Bracket Locations
Mark the location of the shade brackets in the mounted pocket, at the bracket-
to-bracket distance, so that they are centered over the window.
• Bracket-to-bracket distance = tube width + 1
⁄
in (38 mm).

location. ALWAYS use the bracket-to-bracket distance to determine bracket
location. There is an idler spring that compresses* during shade installation,
Glass
allowing the shade to fit inside the bracket-to-bracket distance.
* IMPORTANT: At the correct bracket-to-bracket distance, idler compression
will be approximately 50% of its total travel.
• Allow ample clearance to prevent the fabric from rubbing against the trim,
window, top treatment, or any object.

Install the Shade Brackets
Using fasteners that are appropriate for the mounting surface,* install the
shade brackets at the marks made in the previous section,
Use the aligning ribs on the pocket ceiling to center the bracket and fasten
using four (4) screws.
IMPORTANT: You must install 4 screws per bracket.
Aligning
Ribs
* The shade brackets are capable of supporting an operating load of
250 lb (113.4 kg).
It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure the mounting surface and
underlying structure are capable of supporting the shade system and its
operating load.
The self-drilling mounting screws provided are suitable for mounting
through the brackets and pocket ceiling, into solid wood structural
members, but may not be effective for mounting into other substrates.
It is the responsibility of the installer to select and install fasteners that
are appropriate for the substrate, and capable of supporting the shade
system and its operating load. Pre-drill if necessary, ensuring pilot holes
are of appropriate size for the fasteners used.
