INSTALLATION
Note
Hand merged sets can only be delivered to the
front or down.
Delivery of non merged sets to the front, down
and to the rear is unaffected whilst the HMS is
installed. However, you must first switch off the
HMS in order to use the collator normally.
To use the Rear Outfeed, switch the HMS off,
ensure the conveyor release lever control is in and push the rear deflector lever down.

Hand Merging Station
This Operating Guide is supplementary to your main
Watkiss Vario Operating Manual.
The Hand Merging Station enables you to produce book-
lets that have more sheets than your Vario has bins, by
hand merging two partial sets.
In this guide, the Hand Merging Station is referred to as
the HMS.
The installation of your HMS requires specialist knowl-
edge and should therefore only be carried out by a
Watkiss approved engineer.
Stage 1
Collate the innermost sheets into the jogger. The jogger
should be set to offset stack the sets.
Stage 2
Load the remaining sheets into the Vario, with the cover
in the bottom bin and then:
• Switch on the HMS and run a test set. Do NOT place
any paper in the HMS until after the test set.
• Select
SINGLE SET
option in the
BASIC
• Check that the HMS is shown on the mimic diagram
after the test set.
• Press
to start the Vario.
