RECEPTACLE AND INLET (16/20A – 30/32A)
NOTICE: READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE INSTALLING THIS DEVICE
This pin and sleeve device conforms to International Electrotechnical Commission Standards IEC 60309-1 and 60309-2.
DO NOT USE non IEC devices in the same application as IEC devices, unless assured that no improper mating can occur.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
• NOTICE: For installation by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes and the following instructions.
• CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Disconnect power before installing. Never wire energized electrical components.
• CAUTION: USE COPPER CONDUCTORS ONLY.
1. Check that the devices's type and rating are suitable for the application.
2. The pilot contact (if installed) is rated A600 pilot duty, 600VAC 10A.
Suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 10,000 rms symmetrical amperes, 600V maximum when protected by
Non-time delay types CC, J, or T class fuses.
INSTALLATIONS:
RECEPTACLE (OUTLET)
1. Select cord end with proper conductor color that matches terminal location.
2. Shear cord cleanly.
3. Wiring instructions; refer to Figure 1:
a. Strip each conductor as described in Table 3. DO NOT TIN CONDUCTORS.
b. Feed conductors through the gasket (5).
c. Twist wire strands together on each conductor.
d. Select ferrule suitable for wire size (small for #14AWG, medium for #12AWG, large for
#10AWG) No ferrule is needed for #8AWG wire in the 30/32A devices.
e. Loosen terminal screws (4). Insert conductors fully into proper terminal as identified in Table 2.
f. Tighten all terminal screws (4) to 10 in-lbs (1.1 N-m).
g. TAKE CAUTION THAT THERE ARE NOT STRAY WIRE STRANDS.
4. Reassemble the device.
a. Insert the terminal assembly (1) into base housing (2) and align slot with rib in base.
b. Tighten two assembly screws (3) to 12 in-lbs.
INLET
1. Disassemble device; refer to Figure 1.
a. Remove the terminal assembly (1) from base housing (2) by loosening two assembly screws (3) on the front of device.
2. Wiring Instructions:
a. Feed conductor through the gasket (5) and the housing (2).
b. Strip each conductor to the length shown in Table 3. DO NOT TIN CONDUCTORS.
c. Twist wire strands together on each conductor.
d. Select and insert ferrule suitable for wire size (small for #14AWG, medium for #12AWG, large for #10AWG) No ferrule is needed when
using #8AWG wire in the 30/32 amp devices.
e. Loosen terminal screws (4). Insert conductors into ferrule and fully insert ferrule with conductors into proper terminals as identified in Table 2.
f. Tighten all terminal screws (4) to 10 in-lbs (1.1 N-m).
g. TAKE CAUTION THAT THERE ARE NO STRAY WIRE STRANDS.
3. Reassemble the device.
a. Insert the terminal assembly (1) into base housing (2) and align slot with rib in base.
b. Tighten two assembly screws (3) to 12 in-lbs.
