Precautions
At initial release, dual-controller, active/active MSA1500 are supported only in
homogeneous segments of a SAN, where all hosts accessing the MSA run the
same operating system family and all storage devices presenting LUNs to those
hosts are active/active MSA1500.
Before upgrading to active/active MSA controller firmware, consider the
complexity of your SAN, including the variety of device types, operating systems,
failover tools, and access requirements of your environment.
Understand the requirements of active/passive and active/active configurations,
and then determine which version firmware is best for your environment.

OpenVMS
Tru64 UNIX
Homogeneous = Hosts in the segment of the SAN accessing the MSA must run
the same operating system family and all storage devices presenting LUNs to
those servers must be running the same firmware version.
Heterogeneous = Hosts in the segment of the SAN accessing the MSA can run a
variety of operating systems and can access a variety of storage devices running
different firmware versions. (Can co-exist with other array products.)
In addition to information in this notice, confirm the latest list of supported
operating systems and homogeneous limitations for the different MSA1500
firmware versions. See the two versions (active/active and active/passive) of the
MSA1500 compatibility guide, available on the MSA1500 web site:
