Pullwire Technique

1.
Remove Existing Bolts – Remove (1) existing M14 bolt from the rear of each frame and return to the owner.
2.
Install Hitch – Using (1) M14 bolt, (1) 5/8" lock washer, and (1) 5/8" flat washer, raise the hitch into position and install the fasteners in the weldnut where the existing M14 bolts were removed.
3.
Install Second Fastener Set – Using the Pullwire Technique install (1) 1/2" carriage bolt and (1) bolt plate through the access hole on each frame and into the second rear most hole in the hitch. Secure
each of the carriage bolts with (1) 1/2" flat washer, (1) 1/2" lock washer, and (1) 1/2"-13 Nut.
4.
Drill 4 Holes – Using the remaining (4) holes in the hitch bracket as a guide, drill 1/2" holes into the frame.
5.
Install Remaining Fasteners – Using the Pullwire Technique, install the remaining fasteners by pulling (1) 1/2" carriage bolt and (1) spacer through the access holes into each of the newly drilled holes.
Secure each of the carriage bolts with (1) 1/2" flat washer, (1) 1/2" lock washer, and (1) 1/2"-13 Nut.
6.
Tighten all 1/2" – 13 fasteners with torque wrench to 75 ft-lbs (102 N-m) and tighten all M14 fasteners with torque wrench to 80 ft-lbs (108 N-m).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
