Operation Testing

1. Prime the pump.
• Remove priming plug.
• Pour water into the priming port.
• Fill the pump casing and suction line with
water.
• Rotate motor shaft to let air in casing
escape.
• Refill at the priming port and replace prim-
ing plug.
2. If installing a 3-Phase motor, check pump rota-
tion by turning on power for a second.
• Shaft rotation is shown on the pump case.
• If direction is wrong, interchange any two of
three wires either at the motor or starter.
3. Vent all air from the suction line prior to starting
the pump. Close all system outlets, then slightly
crack one system outlet to allow for excess air to
bleed from the plumbing system.
4. Start the pump.
• If the pump does not deliver water within seconds, stop the motor and prime pump again.
• Several starting attempts may be necessary to expel all air from the pump and suction lines.
IMPORTANT: Never run pump dry. Dry operation may damage the water-lubricated seal inside
the pump.
5. Once the pump is operating, open system outlets slowly and let pump operate until water runs
clear.
• If after a reasonable time your water continues to run sandy or dirty, check with your contractor
for further instructions.
IMPORTANT: A motor operating under normal conditions maintains its rated performance,
assuming a clean, dry motor with proper ventilation.
MAINTENANCE
Check the pump periodically for loose or rubbing parts. Service immediately if any unusual noise, leaks,
or vibrations develop. Drain the pump should it be subjected to freezing temperatures. The pump
requires water for lubrication and must never be run dry.
Refer to
"Replacement Parts" on page 8
while following these instructions.

.
