MODES — The air conditioner can be set to four
different modes: Cool, Auto Cool, Energy Saver, Sleep,
and Fan Only. An LED will light to show what mode
the air conditioner is in when the button is pressed.
Press the Cool button to enter Cool mode. In Cool
mode, the unit will run at the selected fan speed to
maintain the temperature setting.
Press the Energy Saver button to enter Energy Saver
mode. In Energy Saver mode, after the unit shuts off,
the fan will continue to run for 3 minutes and then
shut off until cooling is needed. While the unit is off,
the fan will cycle on and off. The fan will run for
3 minutes and then go off for 10 minutes. The fan will
continue to cycle on and off to sample the room tem-
perature until cooling is need again.
Press the Sleep button to enter Sleep mode. In Sleep
mode, the air conditioner will allow the temperature to
rise above the temperature setting while you are
asleep. This feature conserves energy and avoids the
need to get up during the night and turn off the air
conditioner. While your body is at rest, there is less
need for cooling.
Press the Fan Only button to enter Fan Only mode. In
Fan Only mode, the fan operates to circulate the air in
the room, but there is no cooling operation. This mode
is used to circulate the air in the room when cooling is
not required.
Cooling Modes — With the fan speed button, the air
conditioner can be set to four different cooling modes
— Low, Medium, High, or Auto Cool. Hi Cool mode is
recommended for very warm days or when a fast ini-
tial cooling of the room is desired. Med Cool mode is
recommended on moderately warm days or when the
unit has been operating for some time and the temper-
ature is about to reach its desired setting. Lo Cool
mode is recommended on slightly warm days or after
the room temperature has reached its desired setting.
The Auto Cool mode adjusts the fan speed automati-
cally from low to high based on the setting of the ther-
mostat and the actual room temperature.
I
THERMOSTAT — The temperature setting on the
thermostat can be adjusted from a range of 60 to 90 F
(16 to 32 C). Press the up and down arrows to change
the temperature setting. When in Cool mode, the air
conditioner will start and stop cooling operation in
order to maintain the temperature setting of the
thermostat.
I
SLEEP MODE — Your Carrier Air Conditioner unit
can be programmed so that the room temperature is
allowed to rise while you are asleep. This feature con-
serves energy and avoids the need to get up during the
night and turn off the air conditioner. While your body
is at rest, there is less need for cooling.
Press the Sleep button to start Sleep mode. The control
will allow the temperature to rise 2 F above the tem-
perature setting in the next 30 minutes. It will again
allow the temperature to rise 2 F above the tempera-
ture setting in the following 30 minutes. After the
hour period, the temperature setting will not change
again (for a maximum increase of 4 F above the
setting). This new temperature setting is maintained
for 7 hours and then sleep mode is ended.
Sleep mode can be cancelled at any time by pressing
the Sleep button, ON/OFF, Fan Only, or the up and
down arrow buttons.
I
DELAYED START TIME — The AUTO TIMER
Hours button (TIMER on remote control) allows you to
set the air conditioner to turn on after a certain num-
ber of hours. Press the Hours or Timer button to start
the Delayed Start Time function. A 0.5 will be dis-
played, indicating that there is a
until the machine will automatically turn on. Each
time you press the Hours or Timer button, another
/
hour is added to the on timer until 10 hours is

reached. After 10 hours, the Delayed Start Time is
increased by an hour each time the button is pressed.
The maximum setting is 24 hours.
NOTE: The unit must be off or the Delayed Start Time
function will not be available.
To cancel the Delayed Start Time function, press the
On/Off button.
I
CHECK FILTER — The Check Filter function is a
reminder to the home owner to check the filter for
cleaning. The Check Filter LED will light after
250 hours of operation. After the filter has been
cleaned, press the Check Filter button to reset the
function and the light will go off. The timer cannot be
reset unless the light is on.

DIRECTIONAL LOUVERS

Directional louvers can be used to control conditioned
airflow direction. Use the louvers to direct airflow in
the direction that will provide you the most comfort.
The louvers can be directed up or down and left or
right.

ENERGY SAVING TIPS

Your Carrier air conditioner is designed to operate effi-
ciently and save on energy costs. Follow these recom-
mendations for even greater energy savings.
• Select the warmest thermostat setting that will suit
your comfort needs and leave the thermostat at that
setting.
• Keep the air filter clean (clean approximately every
30 days).
• Use drapes, curtains, or shades to keep direct sun-
light from heating the room.
• Do not obstruct the front grille air intake. Do not
obstruct the top air discharge. Allow air to circulate
freely around the air conditioner.
• Start your air conditioner before outdoor tempera-
ture, cooking heat, or groups of people make the
room hot and uncomfortable. This avoids an initial
period of discomfort while the air conditioner is cool-
ing the room.
• When outdoor temperature is cool enough, use the
Fan Only setting. This circulates indoor air, pro-
vides comfort, and utilizes less electricity than
when operating in Cooling mode.
