Q: How can I open a port to let programs connect to my router over the Internet?
A: Your router includes pre-de ned ports for many popular programs and services, but these are turned o by
default. To open a port, connect to your router' s con guration pages. Open your Web browser and type
http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Log into the router when prompted. (The default username is admin. Leave
the password blank.)
To open a pre-de ned port, click Advanced, then click Virtual Server. In the Virtual Servers List, click the program' s edit
icon. Type the Private IP of the computer that will use the program, click Enabled, then click Apply.

To open a port for a
di erent program,

the top of the page,
type the name of the
new service, the
Private IP of the

use the program, and
the port. Click Enabled,

Note that the Virtual
Server page is used
when a program or
service uses a single
port. For programs
that require multiple
ports, such as Internet
gaming or video
conferencing, use the
Applications page.

enabled or added as
described above.
