• The Össur Liner must always be stored in its original form on the liner stand because otherwise it might be
damaged (Figure 10).
• Be sure that no foreign matter, such as grains of sand, carbon or glass fibres (OT workshop area) come in
contact with the silicone liner surfaces. Then, when it is soiled, washing the liner is often not enough to remove
this foreign matter which can penetrate into the soft silicone material and thus destroy the liner and cause
considerable skin irritation.
• Please note that many shower gels, soaps, bath additives, deodorants, perfumes, alcohol sprays, etc. can cause
skin irritation due to perfumes and/or dyes. To prevent skin problems, these should NOT be used on the
residual limb when using a silicone liner (Figure 11).
• When you first start wearing the product, there may be increased perspiration on the residual limb, but this will
subside in the first two weeks. Under these circumstances, the silicone liner and the residual limb must be
cleaned several times a day. It would be advisable to request a second silicone liner for daily changing and/or
for use as a replacement. The same thing also applies for the seasons when high outdoor temperatures prevail.
Then the entire body perspires more, as does the residual limb in the silicone liner.
• If dry skin is noted, apply Iceross Clean and Simple Moisturizing Lotion to nourish and soften the skin. All
Iceross lotions are pH balanced, 100% fragrance- and dye-free and will not leave an oily residue. Do NOT apply
lotion to the residual limb immediately prior to donning the liner.
• To protect the textile cover or the coating of the Össur Liner, we recommend wearing a stump sock. This serves
to protect against premature wear of this medical aid due to abrasion and friction in the socket. Rough spots
on the socket will damage the Össur Liner and result in loss of the warranty (Figure 12).

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• The Össur Liner must be washed carefully two or three times before its first use.
• The pin must be carefully locked in the retainer and secured reliably by your orthopaedic technician.
• The cut of the Össur Liner must not have any corners, edges or folds in the tailored fit because these can lead
to tears in the material and/or skin problems.
• Please carefully follow the instructions for putting on your Össur Liner.
• Please care for your Össur Liner as well as your skin as described, because experience has shown that this is
the way to prevent the most common cases of skin irritation.
• Do NOT pull on the Össur Liner using sharp objects or fingernails (Figure 13).
• The Össur Liner must NOT be washed in a washing machine.
