General safety guidelines
GB
Read all of the warnings and instructions
included with the flexible shaft and driv-
ing tool. Failure to adhere to the safety
guidelines and instructions can cause
electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries.
Safety guidelines for flexible
shafts
• Wear protective goggles. They pro-
tect your eyes from splintering material
particles.
• Wear suitable clothing. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving
parts. Hair, clothing, jewellery or gloves
can be caught on moving parts.
• Ensure a secure position during
work: This gives you better control
over the flexible shaft in case of unex-
pected situations.
• Do not use the flexible shaft on elec-
trical circuits: Contact with current-
bearing parts can result in fire and
electric shock.
• Secure the workpiece: A workpiece
secured by a clamping fixture or vice
is held more securely than by your
hand.
4
• Always use a brush or compressed
air to remove scraps from cutting,
swarf or similar remnants. Cleaning
the work area by hand can result in se-
rious injuries.
• Keep the unused flexible shaft in a
secure location: Store the shaft in a
stretched state and inform inexperi-
enced persons about the required
safety precautions.
Intended use:
The flexible shaft is intended for work
with bits and cutters (drill, freehand
milling cutter, engraving and grinding
tool) if the driving power tool (e.g.
PROXXON precision drill/grinder 28 472)
cannot or should not be moved.
In accordance with the technical data,
use a power tool which is either firmly
clamped (e.g. PROXXON universal holder
or drill stand) or is hung up.
To start, stretch the flexible shaft and
firmly grasp the handpiece.
During operation, do not pull on the flex-
ible shaft and do not exceed the mini-
mum bending radius of 100 mm. The
flexible shaft must not become knotted.
