Vehicles with automatic child seat
recognition (ACSR)
If it is absolutely necessary to carry a child on
the front passenger seat, be sure to observe
the information on automatic child seat
recognition (ACSR) in your vehicle Operator's
Manual.

If you use the child seat on a front passenger
seat equipped with an ACSR system, the car
will recognize it and the front passenger
airbag will be automatically deactivated.
In the vehicle, the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF
indicator lamp is illuminated and indicates
that the front passenger airbag is deactivated.
Vehicles with Occupant
Classification System (OCS)
If it is absolutely necessary to carry a child on
the front passenger seat, be sure to observe
the information on the Occupant
Classification System (OCS) in your vehicle
Operator's Manual.
There you will also find information on
deactivating the front passenger airbag.
When the Occupant Classification System
(OCS) is malfunctioning, the red 6
restraint system warning lamp in the
instrument cluster and the PASSENGER AIR
BAG OFF indicator lamp light up
simultaneously. The front passenger airbag is
deactivated in this case and does not deploy
during an accident. Have the Occupant
Classification System (OCS) checked and
repaired immediately at a qualified specialist
workshop. Mercedes-Benz recommends that
you use an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
Do not use a child seat on the front
passenger seat if there is a malfunction in the
Occupant Classification System (OCS).
