Installation / Operation / Maintenance
3. Adjust diverter valve to control fountain spray height,
DO NOT restrict pump suction to accomplish this.
Refer to performance chart (Page 3) for maximum
fountain spray height for each individual model.
(When used as a waterfall only-see Figure 3).
4. Pumps connected to pond filters must be adjusted at
the diverter valve to provide adequate flow to the fil-
ter. Refer to filter instruction manual to determine
flow requirement of individual filter units.
5. Use hose clamps to secure tubing connected to divert-
er valve fitting, pond filter or ornamental statuary.
OPERATION/MAINTENANCE
1. Pump is a submersible type and must be under water
at all times for proper operation and cooling.
Never run pump dry!
2. Clean inlet filter regularly. A clogged inlet filter will
reduce flow which can damage the pump.
NOTICE: Most pumps are equipped with a thermal pro-
tector that will shut pump off if operating temperature
becomes too high, possibly due to restricted flow or a
clogged impeller. Pump will restart when the motor has
cooled sufficiently.
Periodically check to see that impeller rotation is not
being hampered by any debris and to clean internal
components.
Disassembly/Cleaning
Risk of electric shock. Make certain that
the pump is unplugged before attempting to service or
remove any component.
To Clean the Screen and Filter:
(The Key Numbers listed below refer to the exploded
view, Page 4).
1. Unplug the pump and remove it from the pond.
2. Remove the hose.
3. Dry the pump and cord.
4. Carefully squeeze the sides of the prefilter (Key No. 6)
together and pull it away from the pump. The prefilter
will unsnap and come off.
5. Remove the sponge filter (Key No. 5) and wash it in
soapy water.
6. Rinse and reassemble.
