► Detach retaining pin (1) and remove pin (2).
► Remove the blade spur together with
adapter (3).
► Rest the tiller on the handlebar.

16.1
Maintenance Intervals
Maintenance intervals are dependent on the
ambient conditions and the working conditions.
STIHL recommends the following maintenance
intervals:
Engine
► Maintain the engine as described in the engine
instruction manual.
Before each use:
► Check the gearbox oil level.
► Check the tyre pressure of the running wheels.
Correct tyre pressure: 2 bar
After the first month or after 20 operating hours:
► Change the gearbox oil.
Every 6 months or after 100 operating hours:
► Change the gearbox oil.

Lubricating the Gearbox
► Stop the engine.
► Place the tiller on a level surface.
► Place the front wheel in the transport position.
► Set the blade spur to the highest level.
► Clean the area around the gearbox oil cap
with a damp cloth.

► Turn the gearbox oil cap anti-clockwise until it
can be removed.
► Remove the gearbox oil cap.
► Add SAE10W30 gearbox oil without spilling
any.
► Place the gearbox oil cap on the filler neck.
► Turn the gearbox oil cap clockwise and hand
tighten.
The filler neck is sealed.

Checking the Gearbox Oil
Level
► Stop the engine.
► Place the tiller on a level surface.
► Place the front wheel in the transport position.
► Set the blade spur to the highest level.
► Turn gearbox oil cap (1) anti-clockwise until it
can be removed.
► Remove gearbox oil cap (1).
► Wipe off dipstick (2).
► Insert dipstick (2) in filler neck (3) and remove
again.
► Read off the gearbox oil level on dipstick (2).
► If the gearbox oil level is under the MIN
marking:
lubricate the gearbox.
► If the gearbox oil level is over the MAX
marking:
drain the gearbox oil.
► If the gearbox oil level is between the MIN
and MAX markings:
there is enough gearbox oil in the gearbox.
► Place gearbox oil cap (1) on filler neck (3).
► Turn gearbox oil cap (1) clockwise and hand
tighten.
Filler neck (3) is sealed.
