Install all of the drive carriers into the VTrak enclosure to ensure proper airflow,
even if you do not populate all the carriers with physical drives.
Installing Physical Drives
If your VTrak shipped with physical drives already installed, go to "Task 4: Making
Management and Data Connections" on page 11.
If your VTrak did not ship with physical drives, follow the instructions below.
1. Remove an empty drive carrier.
2. If you are installing SATA drives, attach a SAS-to-SATA adapter onto the
power and data connectors of each drive.

VTrak supports physical drive hot-swapping. To avoid hand
contact with an electrical hazard, remove only one drive carrier a
time.
SATA drives require a SAS-to-SATA adapter, available from
PROMISE Technology, Inc.
SAS drives do not require adapters.
