Quick Install

1. Use the included network cable to connect the EZ Media & Backup Center to your network router.
2. Use the included power adapter and cord to plug the EZ Media & Backup Center into a surge-protected power
source.
3. The device will power on automatically.
4. Go to http://setup.lenovoemc.com to launch setup for your EZ Media & Backup Center.
If you cannot access the web setup portal or your EZ Media isn't displayed there, start the management interface
as described below to initiate the setup sequence.
Using Your EZ Media & Backup Center
Finding Your EZ Media & Backup Center on the Network
You can download and use LenovoEMC
with supported LifeLine storage devices on your network. LenovoEMC Storage Manager is available for Windows
Mac
, and Linux
computers. A simplified client, LenovoEMC Storage Connector, is preloaded on selected Lenovo
®
®
computers running Windows 7 and 8.1, and can also be downloaded.
If you choose not to use LenovoEMC client software, you can locate and login to Shares on your EZ Media & Backup
Center using your computer's operating system (for example, Windows Explorer or Mac Finder). See the user manual
for detailed instructions.
Starting the Management Interface
• From a LenovoEMC client, select Configure features, the Manage menu option, or the settings icon.
• From Windows Explorer, go to Network > Other Devices and double-click the EZ Media device.
• From a web browser, enter the device IP address or model name (LenovoEZ). To use the model name on a Mac,
add .local after the name in the browser (LenovoEZ.local).
In order to manage your EZ Media, you must first complete the setup sequence, and then login using a valid
administrator user name and password.
Powering off the EZ Media & Backup Center / Disconnecting from the Network
You can keep the EZ Media & Backup Center powered on for constant use on your network. If you need to disconnect
it from your network, power down using either the power button or the shut down option in the management console.
CAUTION: To prevent data loss, do not disconnect this device or any connected storage devices during data transfer.
Backing up Your EZ Media & Backup Center Network Storage
It is recommended that you backup content stored on your EZ Media & Backup Center frequently to ensure that your
critical data is always protected. Consult the help files available from the management console for information on how
to copy files to other network locations. You can also use backup software that supports NAS devices.

additional configuration instructions, troubleshooting information, and the latest software downloads for your EZ
Media & Backup Center are available from the LenovoEMC web site at http://support.lenovoemc.com.

Safety Information

Observe the following guidelines when using your EZ Media & Backup Center:
1. Follow all instructions marked on the EZ Media & Backup Center and in the documentation.
2. Always use the appropriate power supply plug clip for your country.
3. Do not use the EZ Media & Backup Center near water. Do not spill liquid on or into the EZ Media &
Backup Center.
4. Do not place the EZ Media & Backup Center on an unstable surface.
5. Do not walk on the power cord or allow anything to rest on it.
