Putting into Operation

The unit operates optimally with a pressure of 6.3 bar
(90 psi) measured at the air inlet with the unit running.
Before connecting units with lever start to the air
supply, operate the lever 12 several times.
Switching On / Off
If the unit does not start, e.g. after not being used for
a longer time, disconnect the air supply and turn the
tool holder 1 by hand. Adhesive forces are eliminated
in this manner.
For an interruption of the air supply or reduced
operating pressure, switch off the machine.
Check the operating pressure and start again
when the pressure returns to normal.
Type 0 697 453 233/... 234
Thrust Start with Ratchet Clutch
Switching on: Apply axial pressure to the tool.
Switching off: The machine switches off automatically
when the torque setting is reached.
Type 0 697 453 235/...236/...237/...238/...239
Thrust Start with Switch-Off Clutch
Switching on: Apply axial pressure to the tool.
Switching off: The unit switches off automatically
when the torque setting is reached or
earlier when the load is removed from
the tool.
Type 0 697 453 009/... 010
Lever Start with Ratchet Clutch
Switching on: Press the lever 12.
When the torque setting for the
screwing operation is reached, the
screwdriver disengages until the lever
12 is released.
Switching off: Release lever 12.
Type 0 697 453 229/... 230/... 231/... 232
Lever Start with Switch-Off Clutch
Switching on: Apply the bolting tool, then press the
lever 12.
Switching off: The macchine switches off automati-
cally when the torque set is reached or
when the lever 12 is released pre-
maturely.
Type 0 697 453 240/... 241/... 242
Thrust Start and Lever Start with
S-Plus Switch-Off Clutch
The bolter has an additional lever start device. After
the clutch switches off, the automatic switch-off is
bypassed by actuating the lever 12 and a ratchet
clutch goes into action. By releasing the lever 12, the
machine is again switched off.
By prematurely releasing the actuating lever
(lever start) or relieving the pressure on the
tool (thrust start), the preset torque is not
achieved.

Working Instructions

Before performing any work on the unit itself,
disconnect the air supply.
Setting the Torque

A
B
Turn the protective sleeve 3 until a slot is visible in the
housing.
Turn the tool holder 1 with a 1/4" Allen key until a
half-round cut-out in the adjustment disk 14 is
visible.
Insert the adjustment tool 13 in the cut-out.
Turning in the clockwise direction results in a higher
torque, in the counter clockwise direction, a lower
toque.
Remove the adjustment tool. Turn the protective collar
until it can be heard to latch.
Caution!
For soft bolting actions, the clutch no longer
ratchets even for low torque settings.
After the adjustment
Adapt the torque by means of trial boltings for the
specific bolting action (hard, middle, soft). Check the
torque with an electronic torque measuring instrument
or a torque wrench.
Type of Clutch
Type 0 607 453 009 / ... 010 / ... 233 / ... 234
The machines have torque-dependent
ratcheting clutches that can be
adjusted over a wide range.
respond when the adjusted torque is
reached.
For higher torques, a correspondingly greater
counter force is necessary.
With a clamping device in the area 4 this counter force
can more easily be counteracted.
Machines that are operated with a torque greater than
4 Nm are to be used with a clamping device or an
auxiliary handle.
Take care that the auxiliary handle or the clamping
device holds the machine in a firm and secure manner.
