- By compressing and releasing the bag, ventilate the patient. Verify successful
ventilation using a suitable method.
- If the resistance is too high during insufflation, check that the airways are free of foreign bodies or correct the
head position.
- Watch out for spontaneous respiration!
OxygEN SUPPLy
Oxygen can be delivered while ventilating (nearly 100% saturation) by attaching a VBM reservoir valve and a
VBM reservoir bag to the intake valve of the resuscitation bag and supplying oxygen via the port on the intake
valve. If reservoir bags and reservoir valves from other manufacturers are used, the compatibility of the connec-
tions must be checked beforehand.
The intake valve has two functions:
1. If the oxygen flow is set too high, any excess oxygen is vented.
2. If the oxygen flow is too low, the missing respiratory gas volume is equalised by taking in air.

DEmAND VALVE
A demand valve can be connected to the intake valve.
PEEP valve
A PEEP valve can be attached to the non-rebreathing valve by means of an adapter.
PEEP valve
For further information, refer to the instructions for use of the PEEP valve.
