INTRODUCTION
There are two digital output transfer methods available in the µMaxµm ® . An interface connector logic input
selection allows choice between the two data transfer methods. The first method is a clocked serial BCD data stream
consisting of 13 digits totaling 52 bits, emulating Mitutoyo's format. The second method is an ASCII encoded 2400
Baud digital asynchronous data stream consisting of 14 characters similar to the Maxµm Plus ® serial ASCII
format. The digital output permits the LCD displayed displacement to be conveyed to an external device such as a
printer, personal computer or data collection system. The output is accessed via a seven-pin connector located on top
of the indicator. This report documents both digital output data transfer protocol specifications.
OUTPUT CONNECTOR
The digital output connector is an Amphenol female connector receptacle with seven pins and a key way, part #
MSK94-001 (ECN-1704). Manufacturers of data collection equipment normally furnish their own attaching
connectors and cables. The mating connector is an Amphenol male connector, part # C091-31M007-200-1, stocked
by Newark Electronic and Capstone Electronics. Federal products part number for the mating connector is ECN-
1720. Both male and female connectors are shown below. Recommended cable length is 6' (1.5m).
