ASCII ENCODED ASYNCHRONOUS DATA TRANSFER FORMAT
Theory of operation:
When the SMOD pin is connected to ground and the data request input signal (SREQ\) is activated low an
ASCII data transmission at 2400 baud is issued. Each reading consists of 14 characters in length with each
character being 10 bits long (1 start bit, 7 data bits, 2 stop bits and no parity).

The data transmission differs for English and Metric units. There are 7 digits that may be displayed with the
English system but only 6 digits are displayed with the metric system. Characters that are not used in the 14-
character string are transmitted as spaces.
