POTENTIOSTATIC CHLORINE PROBE CALIBRATION

DESCRIPTION OF THE POTENTIOSTATIC CHLORINE PROBE

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A CORRECT GAIN CALIBRATION

Before doing GAIN calibration, PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS:
1) The chlorine potentiostatic probe must be positioned to not less than 1 cm from the bottom of the probe holder.
2) Prevent the presence of air bubbles on the surface of chlorine probe's membrane because they cause reading
problems.
3) It is necessary to stabilize the water flow by turning the knob regulation till the floater stays in the upper position.
4) Before doing the gain calibration it is necessary to stabilyse the pH at the desidered value .We recommend to choose
a value from 7.0 to 7.3pH .
5) It is necessary to do the Chlorine gain calibration at concentration values nearest possible to the desired setpoint. For
example if the chlorine concentration desired is 1.20ppM it is strictly recommended to do the gain calibration with water in
those conditions. Use a DPD1 photometric test to check the chlorine concentration in the water sample taken from
the Tap (see the figure on the left)
It is recommended to do the gain calibration after at least 1 or 2 hours of optimal working conditions. It is
recommended to do the definite calibration after 24 hours of work of the probe
After having stabilized the flow and the pH and having stabilized the chlorine concentration at the optimal and desired value,
proceed with the calibration of the gain

GAIN CALIBRATION

ATTENTION, it will be necessary to do a comparative free chlorine test (for example a DPD1 photometric test).

Wait for the stabilization of the reading on the
display.
1) Do a DPD1 test on the water sample taken
from the Tap of the probe holder.
2) Push ENTER/MENU for 3 sec and then
with ▼▲ buttons scroll the cursor on
Calibration and push ENTER. With ▼
button bring the cursor on Gain and push
ENTER. The display shows the reading.
Push ENTER and then modify (if necessary)
the value shown until at DPD1 value with
▼▲ buttons and then confirm with ENTER.
