catalogue or data sheet must neither be exceeded nor allowed
to fall below those specified.
3 Transport and interim storage
Upon delivery check that the pump has survived the journey
undamaged. Should you notice any damage, the normal routi-
ne measures are to be initiated with the haulage firm.
During transport and interim storage the pump

is to be protected from damp, frost and mecha-
nical damage, so that the geometry and align-
ment of the fitted plastic pump housing do not
change.

5 Assembly / Installation
Fig. 2 shows a typical pump installation. The installation and
assembly instructions which must be observed for this type of
operation (pump in inlet mode via a reservoir (pos. 8) or direct
water supply (pos. 9) with water-failure safety device) are given
below.
5.1
Assembly
– Before installing the pump, make sure that all welding and sol-
dering on the pipe system has been completed and that the
pipe system has been flushed out. Foreign bodies and dirt will
damage the pump.
– Install the pump in a dry place free of frost.
– Leave room for maintenance work to be carried out.
– The motor fan access is to be kept free, minimum distance to
rear wall: 0.3 m.
– Install in a horizontal and flat position.
– The pump is secured with 2 screws, Æ 8 mm, on a vibration-
reducing pedestal or base. Commercially available rubber-
metal connectors can also be used to hold it in place and
absorb vibrations.

Hydraulic connections
– The connections are made via a flexible spiral tube or a rigid
pipe connection.
– Inlet pipe/tube must at least have the nominal width of the
pump's inlet connection.
– To avoid pressure drops it is recommended that as short an
inlet pipe as possible be chosen and restrictions due to
bends and valves be avoided.
– In principle, shut-off devices (pos. 2 & 3) are to be fitted befo-
re and after the pump to prevent the entire system emptying
and refilling when the pump is inspected or replaced.
– A non-return valve (pos. 4) is to be installed in the outlet pipe.
– Fit the inlet and outlet pipes without stress. Install below
expansion joints of restricted length to absorb vibrations.
The pipes are to be secured (pos. 7) such that the pump
does not support the weight of the pipes.
– Nominal pump connection widths (DN):

Threading
Alignment of pipework / pump connection
ATTENTION!
To avoid damaging the connections of the
pump housing, a maximum angular deviation
of 3° may not be exceeded in the case of the
Victaulic connection.
Make sure the screw connection is perfectly
aligned. Carefully seal the pipe connection
with Teflon tape.
Maximum permissible starting torque of
screw: 40 Nm!
– The customer should take suitable measures to prevent low
water levels and hence guard against the pump running dry
in order to protect the mechanical seal. Wilo offers various
accessories for this purpose.
– The pump is to be protected at the inlet pipe with a screen or
filter attachment (pos. 1) to prevent damage due to drawn-in
dirt.
5.3
Electrical connection
Electrical connection should be made by a qualified
electrican. Current national conditions and local
regulations must be observed (e.g. VDE regulations
in Germany)
– According to Part 1 of the VDE 0730, the pump must be con-
nected to the electrical supply by a solid wire equipped with
a plug or an all-pole switch. The width of the contact gap
must be at least 3 mm.
– Check the mains current and voltage.
– Observe pump rating plate data,
– Mains fuse: 10A time-lag fuse.
– The customer should fit three-phase current motors with a
motor safety switch which should be adjusted to the nominal
current given on the rating plate to prevent the motor from
overheating.
– A connecting cable with an adequate external diameter is to
be used to ensure protection against dripping and the strain
relief of the PG screw.
– The pump is to be connected to the mains in accordance
with the terminal connection plans for three-phase current in
the pump's terminal box (see also fig. 3).
– Earth pump/system in accordance with regulations,
Incorrect electrical connection will result in

damage to the motor.
