2.2 Inspection prior to every application of the clamp

Attention must be paid to the following (see illustration below for part reference)
Ensure that the plate surface with which the clamp is to come into contact is
free of scale, grease, oil, paint, water, ice, moisture, dirt and coatings
that might impede the contact of the teeth with the plate.
Inspect camsegment (A) for wear and defects. The teeth must be sharp and
free of dirt (See also chapter 1.5: "The most common areas of damage").
Check the body (D) for damage, cracks or deformation (this may indicate over
loading). The clamp must open and close properly (when the operation of the
clamp is stiff or heavy, it should be removed from operation for inspection).
Check the camsegment shaft (B) for readily detectable wear and/or damage.
(check also the roll ping (C) which locks the camsegment shaft).
Check whether the W.L.L. and the jaw aperture, that are held in the clamp
correspond with the load to be lifted.

2.3 A safe clamp, a secure basis for safe lifting

If you maintain your clamps as described above you will keep your clamps in optimum
condition. Inter Product gives you for 10 years the certainty that you are using the
safest possible lifting clamps, a secure basis for safe lifting. But using safe tools does
not automatically mean that the lifting practices are safe. The people who work with
the tools play an equally important role in safe lifting. Ensure therefore that everyone
who works with our lifting clamps has been instructed in safe lifting and the safe
application of our clamps.
