Connecting to earth
The housing must be connected to earth in order
•
to discharge static electricity. To do this, connect
one end of a cable to the earth connection (4) on
the generator (Fig. B) and the other end to an ex-
ternal earth.
Refuelling
Warning! Petrol is highly inflammable and explo-
sive. When handling fuels, you may suffer burns
or other severe injuries.
Use petrol with an octane rating of at least 90 oc-
tane.
Only use fresh, clean fuel.
Water or impurities in the petrol damage the fuel sys-
tem.
Tank volume: 13 litres
•
Only fill the tank up to the marking in the fuel
strainer.
•
Note that fuel expands.
•
Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine
stopped. If the engine was in operation immedi-
ately before, allow it to cool first.
•
Never refuel the engine in a building where the
petrol vapour may come into contact with flames
or sparks.
•
Do not smoke whilst refuelling or in the area in
which the petrol is stored and prevent naked
flames or sparks under these circumstances.
•
After refuelling, ensure that the tank cover is
closed correctly and securely again. Take care!
•
Mop up spilled petrol immediately.
•
If petrol is spilled, ensure that the area is dried be-
fore starting the engine.
•
Avoid repeated or long contact of the fuel with the
skin and avoid breathing in the fumes.
•
Keep the fuel out of the reach of children.
•
If there are occasional taps or knocks from the en-
gine, you should use a different brand of petrol.
If this does not solve the problem, contact an au-
thorised dealer.
WARNING: Operating the engine with continuous
ignition tapping or knocking can result in damage
to the engine. Operating the engine with continu-
ous ignition tapping or knocking is considered
improper use. The manufacturer is not respon-
sible for the resulting damages; the user solely
bears the risk.
8. Operation
m Important! You must fill up with engine oil (ap-
prox. 0.6 l) and fuel before you can start the engine.
Check the fuel level and engine oil level, refill if
•
necessary by topping up the oil though the oil filler
screw (7) and the petrol through the petrol filler
cap (2) .
•
Make sure that the generator has sufficient ven-
tilation.
Make sure that the ignition cable is secured to the
•
spark plug.
Inspect the immediate vicinity of the generator.
•
Disconnect any electrical equipment which may al-
•
ready be connected to the generator.
Starting the engine
m Important! When starting with the reverse starter
(12) , the motor may recoil suddenly as it starts up,
resulting in hand injuries.
Wear protective gloves when starting the equip-
•
ment.
•
Open the petrol cock (13) by turning it down.
Set the ON / OFF switch (10) to the "ON" position.
•
Move the choke lever 11 to position I Ø I.
•
Start the engine with the reversing starter (12) , by
•
pulling forcefully on the handle. If the engine does
not start, pull the handle again.
•
Push the choke lever (11) back after the engine
has started.
Connecting consumers to the generator
Connect the equipment you want to use to the 230
•
V~sockets (3) .
m Important! These sockets may be loaded con-
tinuously (S1) with 2600 W and temporarily (S2) for
a maximum of 2 minutes with 2800 W.
Do not connect the generator to the household
•
mains system as this may result in damage to the
generator itself or to other electrical appliances in
your home.
•
The generator is suitable for 230 V~ AC appliances
only.
Note: Some electrical appliances (power jigsaws,
drills, etc.) may have a higher level of power con-
sumption when used in difficult conditions
Switching off the engine
Before you switch off the generator, allow it to run
•
briefly with no consumers so that it can "cool down".
Set the ON / OFF switch (10) to the "OFF" position.
•
Close the petrol cock (13).
•
Overload cut-out 2 x 230 V socket-outlets
m Important! The generator is fitted with an over-
load cut-out.
This shuts down the sockets (3). You can restart the
sockets 3 by pressing the overload cut-out (5).
m Important! If this happens, reduce the electric
power you are taking from the generator or re-
move any defective connected appliances.
m Important! Defective overload cutouts must be
replaced only by overload cut-outs of identical
design and with the same performance data. If
repairs are necessary, please contact your cus-
tomer service center.
