3. Pre-Windows Driver Installation
When you want to use the CSATA2EXi Controller Card for booting your Windows System,
you need to install Windows on the Harddisk while it is connected to the CSATA2EXi.
During this installation, you need to provide the pre-install driver for a correct function
of the CSATA2EXi Controller Card.
Note: If you are running Windows from another hard disk and use this SATA controller
for extra hard disks, you can skip this chapter and continue to chapter 4.
You need to prepare the pre-install driver on a 3.5" Floppy Disk or USB-Flashdrive
before you begin the new Windows installation.
Note: The setup of Windows 2000 and XP does not support the use of an USB-
Flashdrive during the installation. For Windows 2000 and XP, you can only
prepare a 3,5" Floppy Disk.
3.1 Prepare Driver Disk / Flashdrive
A.
Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM Drive. The Autorun should appear automatically.
If the Autorun menu does not appear, navigate to "My Computer" and double-click
on the CD-ROM drive to start the Autorun menu.
B.
Click the "Browse" option in the Menu. An explorer window will appear, showing
you the contents of the CD-ROM.
C.
Open the folder "Drivers" by double-clicking on the folder.
D.
Open the folder "Win2K_XP_Vista" by double-clicking on the folder.
E.
Select the folder which corresponds with your operating system: "Floppy-32Bit"
for a 32-Bits version of Windows (most-used edition of Windows 2000, XP and
Vista), or "Floppy-64Bit" for 64-Bits Windows.
F.
Copy the contents of the selected folder to an empty 3.5" Floppy Disk or to an
USB-Flashdrive if you are installing Windows Vista.
When the copy process is complete, the preparation for the new installation is ready.
Now you can start with the Windows installation on your computer.
