Read these instructions carefully before you use your PANTRY for the first time, and keep them for future reference. Be sure to follow the
manufacturer's recommendations so that your equipment will function properly and safely over many years.
All the materials used, such as electric hot plates, wiring, control switches etc comply with international specifications and carry the
respective suitability markings.
1
WORKING PARTS
1. The sink unit is stainless steel (Cr-Ni 18/10) and has a basin at one end, on the left or right side (1). Between the basin and the
electric hot plates are grooves sloping towards the basin to drain off water (2).
2. At the other end of the sink unit are two (2) 1500 Watt electric hot plates with thermostats (3). The plates are either both the same
size (Ø145mm) or of different sizes (Ø145mm / Ø180mm). The plate with a red dot in its middle is fast heating (4). The thermostats
protect the plates against overheating, for maximum safety and energy saving).
The electric hot plate controls have 7 operating positions, including the zero marking (0) that indicates that the switch is in the off position
and that there is no supply of electricity to the plate. The controls may be turned in both directions. The control for the larger plate has a large
circle beside it, whilst there is a smaller circle for the small plate. When the red bulb in the indicator light is on, it means that a hot plate is
being supplied with electric current.
2
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
All you need to connect your PANTRY is a safety socket with a 16A fuse and 2.5mm² wiring.
If you are using an extension cord, be sure it is a 3 / 2.5mm² cord and that the ground wire is not broken.
Do not cut the wiring in the socket and do not connect the appliance permanently.
The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is readily accessible.
If you plug electrical appliances into sockets near the hot plates, make sure that their flexes do not touch the elements when they are hot.
The appliance should not be built into a cabinet, so that it can be removed for repairs if necessary.
Make sure there is enough air space.
Be careful to remove all packing materials (Styrofoam, cardboard, tape, etc.) from the appliance before using.
Do not run any other appliance (e.g. refrigerator) off the same line that supplies your PANTRY hot plate unit.
The PANTRY unit is installed by using 4 wood screws located at pre-set points and securing the unit to the work top space with the
help of the special "keys" on the under side of the equipment. The distance between the centre-points of key to key is 43.4 cm (see
Figure Á).
2-4cm
FIGURE A
FIGURE B
STEP 1: Insert two screws on either side of the
worktop (4 in total). The first screw should be placed at
a distance of 7.1 cm from the edge of the worktop and
the second 43.4 cm from the first (see Figure Â). Insert
the remaining two screws on the opposite side in
exactly the same way.
STEP 2: Position the PANTRY , making sure that the
apertures of the "keys" are centred over the 4 screws.
STEP 3: Finally, shove the PANTRY firmly backwards,
and when it will not move further tighten the four screws
to secure it in position.
In its final position, the PANTRY should project from the
front edge by about 7 mm, to ensure proper drainage,
and the back should be flush with the wall.
For proper cooking, you should make sure that the
appliance has been correctly installed in a flat position.
STEP 4: Fit the plug for the electric hot plates into a
220-230 Volts and 16 Amp fuse schuko socket.
WARNING:
If a refrigerator is to be installed beneath the PANTRY unit, and specifically beneath the hot plates:
The refrigerator must be CE certified by a recognised body
and must carry the CE compliance label.
The top of the refrigerator must not touch the hot plate box.
There must be at least 1.5 cm between them.
3
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Before using for the first time, plug the appliance into the correct socket, turn both controls to number 6 position, and allow the hot
plates to heat up for three (3) minutes with no cooking utensils on them.
Keep the elements clean, because dirt affects the efficiency of the appliance.
You can use any ordinary cooking utensil (saucepans, frying pans), as long as its base is smooth and flat and of at least the same
diameter as the element.
Pyrex-type glass utensils may be used on electric hot plates as long as they are exactly the same size as the element. If they are
larger, the pressure that develops inside them may cause them to break. Special care must be taken when using Pyrex-type glass
utensils on the fast-heating element.
4
GENERAL COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
The bottoms of your pots and pans must be clean and dry when you place them on the element.
Do not leave oil or grease on the elements, because they may catch fire. When you are cooking with large quantities of oil or fat, be sure
to keep an eye on the pots and pans at all times.
Do not cook foods in aluminium foil or in plastic containers, because these materials will melt.
Boiling:
Turn the control to position 6 throughout the boiling.
Simmering: Turn the control to position 6 and as soon as boiling starts, lower the heat by turning the control to position 2 until cooking is
complete.
Frying:
Turn the control to position 6 throughout the frying.
5
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Use this appliance only for its intended purpose. This product is recommended only for household use. It should never be used as a
space heater. This is not only dangerous, but may also damage the appliance.
If you do not install a refrigerator beneath the appliance, be careful not to use the space to store flammable or heat-sensitive
materials, such as spray cans, cleaning materials, etc., especially in the area beneath the hot plates.
Do not leave hot cooking utensils on the plates when they are not in use water from the condensation causes rust.
Since the appliance gets hot during use, avoid placing materials sensitive to high temperatures anywhere near it.
Always unplug the appliance when you are finished cooking and before you clean it.
Never leave the appliance unattended when it is on.
Do not spray cleaning solvents on the elements when they are hot.
Keep children away from the controls and the hot plates.
Never use any electrical appliance if the flex or the plug is damaged.
6
MAINTENANCE
After use and once the top has cooled, remove traces of food with a damp cloth and soap.
Do not use corrosive cleaning agents, bleaches or sharp objects to remove rust or stains.
Residues from boiling water, especially when they contain salt, should be carefully removed from the surface and surround of the hot
plates.
Clean the elements with special commercial cleaning agents, suitable for electric plates, which do not damage graphite.
Clean the stainless steel parts of the unit with any suitable commercial product.
7
REPLACING THE FLEX
Never try to repair a damaged flex yourself; always have it done by a qualified electrician.
For maximum safety, we recommend inserting a layer of glass
fibre insulation between the top of the refrigerator and the
bottom of the hot plate box.
We recommend the use of B2-type non-flammable
polyurethane insulation for the refrigerator.
