DESCRIPTION
The GA series of hot air heaters use liquid petroleum gas LPG and
are of the direct combustion type. The air is heated by the energy deve-
loped during combustion and is then conveyed to the environment to
be heated together with the combustion products, thus making availa-
ble 100% of the thermal power produced. The environment must be
suitably ventilated in order to ensure an adequate supply of fresh air.
Various safety devices trip in case of serious malfunction. The
electronic burner control unit trips if the flame is irregular or goes out.
The manually re-engaged safety thermostat trips when the temperature
in the combustion chamber exceeds the safety limit setting. The stop-
gas valve fitted between the rubber hose and the pressure regulator en-
gages and interrupts the gas supply if the rubber hose breaks. In both
cases, the light (1) comes on and hot air heater operation stops. Opera-
tion can only start again if the respective re-set button (2 for the control
unit, 4 for the safety thermostat and red button for the stop-gas valve)
is pressed. Nonetheless, the cause that triggered the safety device
should always be sought and remedied before restarting the heater
("TROUBLESHOOTING")
GENERAL ADVICE
Installation, setting and use of the hot air heater must be done ac-
cording to the applicable regulations and laws relating to machine use.
It is always best to make sure:
• the instructions in this manual are carefully followed;
• the heater is not installed in an area where there is a high risk of
fire or explosions;
• no inflammable materials are stored in the vicinity;
• all precautions have been taken to prevent fires;
• the premises in which the heater is installed are sufficiently venti-
lated for burner requirements;
• the air suction and/or supply pipes are not blocked in any way,
there are no sheets or covers resting on the machine or walls
and bulky objects near the heater;
• the heater is placed near a power switchboard having specifica-
tions in conformity with those declared;
• the unit is placed in a fixed position;
• the heater is regularly monitored during operation and checked
before being started up;
• at the end of each work shift the main switch is disengaged and
the gas stopcock is closed.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Warning
All the operations described in this paragraph must only
be performed by professional and skilled personnel.
POWER CONNECTIONS
Warning
The power line of the heater must feature an earth lead
and a residual current circuit breaker.
The supply cable must be connected to a switchboard
with sectioning switch
All the control and safety devices are already electrically connec-
ted. The only remaining connections are the room thermostat or other
system accessories (such as, for instance, a timer, etc.). The power ca-
ble must be fitted in the control panel through the wire loop (5) and
connected to terminals 4 and 5 of the terminal board after removing the
electric wire connecting these directly (WIRING DIAGRAM).
FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS
The heater features a stop-gas valve, pressure regulator and gas
rubber hose, which must be fitted in the following order: heater - gas
rubber hose - stop-gas valve - pressure regulator.
Warning
All the fittings have left thread
The assembly can now be connected to a gas tank or supply pipe,
being careful to mount a gas stopcock in between.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
STARTING
To start the heater:
• turn the switch to "0"/OFF and connect the power cable to a
power point with earth;
• after setting the pressure regulator at minimum by unscrewing
the body, slowly open the gas supply stopcock and press the
button on the "stop-gas" valve;
• turn the switch to the position marked by the symbol
will start and after a few seconds so will combustion;
Regulate the thermal power by means of the pressure regulator,
slowing increasing the supply pressure.
In the event of the unit failing to operate, the first things to do are:
1 Check the power voltage on the general control panel;
2 Make sure the gas cylinder is full and the stopcock is open;
3 Press the red button on the "stop-gas" valve;
4 In the case of the model "A", press the reset button no more than
two or three times;
5 If the heater still does not work, turn to the "TROUBLESHOO-
TING" paragraph and find the cause.
STOPPING
To stop operation, the switch must be turned to "0"/OFF or the
control device must be adjusted, for instance by setting the thermostat
at a lower temperature. Finally, close the gas supply stopcock and re-
move the plug from the power socket.
VENTILATION
To obtain the ventilation effect only, simply turn the switch to the
position marked by the symbol
the switch to "O"/OFF.
TRANSPORT AND HANDLING
The hot air heater can be raised and hung up using the four anchor
holes on the casing.
Warning
Before moving the unit
• Stop the machine as indicated in the "STOP" para-
graph;
• the power supply by removing the plug from the power
socket;
• Fully unscrew the fitting connecting the gas hose to
the heater;
• Wait for the heater to cool down.
MAINTENANCE
To regulate operation of the unit, the fans, combustion chamber,
the burner and the flame sensor must be periodically cleaned.
Warning
Before performing any maintenance operation:
• Stop the machine as indicated in the previous para-
graph;
• Disengage the power supply by removing the plug from
the power socket;
• Close the gas supply stopcock;
• Wait for the heater to cool down.
During cleaning any foreign bodies must be removed from the fan
suction grille.
To clean the burner, the fan will have to be removed so as to provi-
de access to the burner suction opening. Compressed air will then have
to be blown alternatively on the suction opening and on the burner sup-
ply opening.
