Machine settings
Always remove the power supply
plug from the socket before carrying
out any work on the machine.
4.1
Cutting depth
T h e c u t t i n g d e p t h c a n b e s e t a t
0 – 47 mm:
- Open the rotary knob (1.1).
- Set the stop (1.3) to the required cutting
depth while reading the scale,
- tighten rotary knob (1.1).
4.2
Cutting angle
The sawing unit can be swivelled between
0° and 45°:
- Unscrew the brush ring (3.2),
- Loosen the front and rear clamps (1.8,
3.6),
- Set to the required cutting angle while
reading the scale (3.5),
- Close both clamps (1.8, 3.6) once more.
4.3
Changing the saw blade
Only Festool saw blades (435450)
should be fi tted to the AXT 50 LA.
The use of other saw blades is not
permitted.
The cutting geometry of the saw blade
(435450) has been adapted to meet spe-
cial requirements for cutting fi bre cement
panels and similar materials. When shar-
pening blades, remember that the teeth
should have a special cutting angle.
Procedure
- Loosen screw (3.8) with Allen key (1.6),
- Remove the dust extraction hood (3.1)
upwards,
- Set the cutting depth to approx. 15 mm
and push down the machine until the stop
is reached,
- Insert the pins supplied into the two holes
(3.3) on the clamping fl ange,
- Unscrew the bolt (3.4) using the Allen key
(1.6),
- Remove saw blade,
- Clean fl ange,
- Insert new saw blade. Warning: The di-
rection of rotation of the saw blade and
the machine must be the same.
- Tighten screw (3.4),
- Attach the dust extraction hood (3.1) once
again.
4.4
Dust extraction
Always connect the machine to a
dust extractor.
You can connect a Festool extractor with an
extractor hose diameter of 36 mm to the
extractor connector (1.2).
The brush ring (3.2) fi lls the gap between
the machine and the workpiece and enhan-
ces the effi ciency of the extractor.
5
Working with the machine
Always secure the workpiece in such
a manner that it cannot move while
being sawed.
The machine must always be held
with both hands by the designated
handles.
Always push the machine forwards,
never pull the machine backwards
towards you.
Only guide the machine against the
workpiece when it is switched on.
Sawing with a guide rail
Fitting an AUP Festool saw guide makes
saw guidance easier and safer and ensures
more accurate, cleaner cuts.
The AUP saw guide is available in two
lengths:
AUP 1750 mm
AUP 3000 mm
Working procedure
- Place the guide rail on the workpiece and
align it along the relevant cutting line.
- Use two clamps to secure the guide rail
to the workpiece and prevent it from slip-
ping.
- Place the machine on the guide rail. De-
pending on the cutting angle, the machine
is slotted either into the inner guide groo-
ve (2.1) for 90° cuts or the outer guide
groove (2.2) for 45° cuts.
- Switch on the machine (1.5).
- Release the plunge-cut lock (1.4) and set
the machine to the preset cutting depth.
- Slide the circular saw through the work-
piece with minimal force (approx. 10 N).
Applying greater force increases the cut-
ting speed but reduces the cutting quality
and saw blade service life considerably.
